61 Cygni is a binary system 11 lightyears away from Sol, consisting of two K-type orange stars. It is one of the most important systems in the Local Sphere, being home to a major colony of Humanity, Vesta.

Both stars orbit each other every 659 years, and are estimated to be much older than the Sun at around 6.1 Billion years old.

Observation and Exploration

First observed by Giuseppe Piazzi in 1804, the system has come to be well explored, hosting many unique worlds around either stars. Its distance to Earth was measured by Friedrich Bessel in 1838.

It wasn't until the 22nd Century until a large object, now known as Romulus, was discovered although speculations of a large planetary body had been floating around prior.

System

There are a total of 9 planetary objects in the system, each boasting their own unique feature.

61 Cygni A

The brighter of the two stars, orbited by a trio of gaseous worlds.

Auster

An extremely tilted, isolated gas giant, given it a rather unusual appearance. It is blue in colouration, being virtually featureless aside from faint cloud bands. It has no major moons.

Aquilo

A small, Neptunian ice giant, hosting unicellular life in its skies. These lifeforms are fairly simple, inhabiting the H2O rich cloud layer whilst gliding along the winds.

Eurus

Notable for its pink appearance and majestic ring system.

61 Cygni B

The smaller of the two, but nonetheless home to a entourage of 6 planets. It's system is the most explored of either star.

Vulcan

A venus-like world, notable for its bright yellow colour, appearing even during the day on neighbouring Vesta.
