7-L Cluster
The 7-L Cluster, formerly called the Ophiuchus Supercluster, is a mid-sized supergalactic cluster, which is located off to the southeast of the Borealis Cluster. Its RA is approximately 17 hours and 10 minutes, and its declination is at roughly -22 degrees.
The 7-L Cluster is rather isolated, with not many significant objects other than the Borealis cluster nearby. Other galactic clusters, like the Salis Clusters, were very hostile. This has directly resulted in the Alliance of Five having only one option, the Borealis Cluster.
There are many subparts to the 7-L Cluster, which are named after significant planets and general locations. The Alliance of Five's states are also named after these locations.
The closest parts of 7-L Cluster are approximately 370 million light years from the Milky Way, making it relatively close to the Borealis Supercluster. This distance, however, is impossibly far for any regular warp drive to reach in a feasible amount of time. The only way to travel to the 7-L Cluster is by using Warp Generation Ships, and using them to set up giant wormhole gates, (Often called Cluster Portals) which take an unfathomable amount of energy to power on a regular basis.
High Energy Phenomena
Millions of years ago, long before the Alliance of five had even existed, there was a phenomenal release of energy in the 7-L Cluster. At the time of Human discovery of this, in 2020 CE, it was reportedly the 2nd largest explosion ever, behind the Big Bang itself. This explosion disturbed most natural flow of the galaxies in the 7-L Cluster, opening a huge void inside. This event likely caused the resource shortage which caused the Alliance of Five to start their Generation Warp Ship project.
Resources
Over the millions of years of The Alliance's existence, resources in the 7-L Cluster have been much thinner than before. If all pipelines from the Borealis were to be cut, the nations inside the 7-L Cluster would survive for only a few million more years, which is very low compared to the potential tens of millions from the Borealis Cluster's stockpile. This is also the primary reason for the Alliance's Warp Generation Ship project.
