The Aeno are celestial oddities, as they appear to be comprised of a nebulous cyan mist. However, this a major misconception. The "Mist" is actually a unique strain of bacteria exclusive to the boreal forests of Phenho of the Aylothyn Galaxy. The cells are not ordered, like Humans cells are, but they are instead decohered. The interesting part is., each cell can do every function of the body. This leads to very intriguing results. The entire body is the brain, eyes, mouth, muscles, bone, and other organs. Every cell can see, eat, think, and do.

They have no stomach, lungs, or heart. If anything edible is passed through any part of the body, it will be instantly consumed by the cells nearest to it. They distribute the nutrients through the body, resupplying every cell. The waste is then compressed and re-materialized back where the food came through. The entire process takes mere seconds to complete. Since the cells are decohered, each one has access to plenty of gas, making lungs completely obsolete. As for the heart, no blood, no need.

Since each cell is part of the brain, bigger Aeno are also smarter Aeno. That is how they evolved to be so tall, more cells, more smart. The cells can also reproduce themselves, but it is very slow, taking years to complete. Melee and bullet weapons are useless against them, as they take a few hundred cells out with brute force, but the rest fill the gap. However, they are extremely vulnerable to explosives, lasers, plasma, fire, high voltages of electricity, intense heat, or anything that can destroy a large amount of their cells in very short time.

Aeno children are incredibly stupid. Since they are smaller, they have much less brain, which makes even 1-12 year olds behave like dogs, and 13-19 year olds like young human children. Only at 20 can their schooling finally begin. Most Aeno finish the entirety of their schooling by 30.

Aeno do not grow, instead, they shed their cells three times in life, becoming smarter. Their cells go through three generations:

  1. Newborn Cells - The very first cells a child is born with. Last until they are about 12.
  2. Childhood Cells - The second set of cells a child will receive. Last until they are approximately 19.
  3. Adult Cells - The cells the Aeno will have for the rest of their life.

They appear mostly humanoid, with thin slits some might call "eyes" although their entire body is an eye. Above that sits the crown, a wispy structure with large extrusions. The crown is taller in the front, getting shorter near the back of the head.

A natural death for the Aeno is known as a Decoherence. In the last decade of their life, their cells start to die and float away like dust being blown off an ancient record player. Eventually, the last cell fades away. Some Aeno like to collect some of their dying friends for families cells, to immortalize them. So-called Dustwielders shape the dead cells into beautiful sculptures, which the family members keep. It is a highly skilled and respectable profession.
