Comprehensive Breakdown
What is a Scope?
- Scope is the word we use here at Amaranth Legacy to denote different canons made by authors. Each Scope is the collective lore involving a singular universe, each with its own unique settings, concepts, and themes.
- The exact size and scale of a Scope depends on author whim, with some as large as an infinite multiverse, and others being made of a single planet, and anything above or below these in size.
- The concept of Scopes allows both author autonomy and reader comprehension by distinguishing each Scope through a template that signals its unique context.
- While the depth of content within a Scope depends on the author's dedication, we encourage readers to explore diverse Scopes without bias solely based on number of pages.
How do Scopes work?
- A Scope represents a self-contained universe or narrative setting, with its own unique rules and concepts that apply only within its boundaries.
- Each Scope operates independently, meaning rules or ideas from one Scope, such as how the concept of planets work in one universe, doesn't necessarily apply to another, unless the author chooses to adopt them.
- As Scopes can vary in scale to any size and extent the mind can conjure, the same applies to the stories a Scope can tell. From intimate personal tales, to chronicles of entire universes, to grand explorations of complex ideas, and everything in-between.
- Ultimately, Scopes are entirely shaped by the author's creative autonomy and intent, so how the in-universe rules apply to one, and to another, can vary extremely.
Where/How do Scopes exist?
- Scopes exist entirely within themselves, with their own unique realities, and their existence is only relevant to themselves.
- A Scope's state of existence can range from typical spatial universes, to the absurd, or mundane creations, and each Scope's state does not necessarily apply to another, even if they appear similar.
- While Scopes can interact like a multiverse, this is only relevant if the author chooses to connect them. For example, Imagindarium's Creation, Cosmoria, and Galvyria follow an Amaranth Succession but remain distinct Scopes.
- Keeping this in mind, Scopes don't exist in a where really, as they are totally self-contained. Conceptualizations of a site-wide multiverse of canons are up to the reader's choice, and may not reflect the actual intent of a Scope's author.
Are all Scopes different?
- While many Scopes on Amaranth Legacy may seem similar in terms of setting, each Scope is inherently different, with variability depending on the author's creative choices.
- Though most Scopes share common thematic settings, (the most major thus far being soft sci-fi or high fantasy) the emphasis is on the freedom for authors to create entirely unique settings, stories, or styles that defy existing molds.
- Authors are encouraged to explore their creativity without feeling confined by prior Scopes, as all forms of variation are welcome.
- As well, Scopes can be extremely alike in terms of setting, but contain different stories to be told, or unique perspectives on a similar style.
Why define Scopes at all?
- Scopes are defined as such in Amaranth Legacy to help authors and readers conceptualize their individual canons as part of a larger whole while maintaining creative autonomy and narrative individuality.
- The concept of Scopes provides clarity by distinguishing between separate universal settings, allowing different stories to coexist independently.
Are all Scopes fictional?
- All Scopes are fictional, but they can incorporate real-world places, objects, or people, such as "Earth," which appears in multiple Scopes.
- While some Scopes are entirely fictional, this is NOT a requirement. Scopes can vary in fictionality as much as they can in any other respect.
- However, authors are encouraged to avoid creating one-for-one replicas of real-life elements, as such content is better suited for platforms like Wikipedia.
- Scopes should maintain a level of creativity beyond mere factual representation to contribute to the broader imaginative landscape of the Amaranth Legacy Community.
Can I make a Scope?
The number of Scopes allotted to the individual user to create is unlimited, however, we'd (as in the site itself) would truly appreciate it that any wishing to add a unique Scope is planning on adding a decent amount of content to it.

Reader Information
How do I know which Scope is worth reading?
We believe ALL Scopes are worth reading! Favorites are informed solely by the respected reader, and we as a community will NOT favor any one Scope over the other. Members may have their personal favorite(s), but we as a collective will NOT hold one prospective author's content over another.
The exact depth of content of a Scope varies quite often, and it is solely dependent on author(s) dedication or time in which they can spend on a Scope. However, we encourage all to not dismiss or disregard a Scope off-hand in favor of another simply because it hasn't yet managed to reach a requisite decided threshold of content; the adage of "quality over quantity" may apply.
Though, of course, what Scopes are favored amongst the rest is solely subjective and left up to the individual reader. Though we would certainly appreciate curiosity to check out as many Scopes as one wishes to!
How do I know I'm reading one Scope over another?
A page set within a specific Scope will begin with a Scope "Template," which will inform the respected reader that the content contained therein is canon to the described Scope.
Said Scope Template will also lead the respected reader to a Scope landing page, containing information on the Scope itself, such as:
- Its given genre or writing styling
- Its respective creator and author(s)
- Whether or not it is OPEN or CLOSED to collaboration; And possible rules for collaboration if it is OPEN.
- If it connects with any other Scope.
- Link(s) to the in-universe and canonical pages on the Scope.
- Its respective applicable rulesets. (if any)
- The creator/author(s') recommended or required reading.
- Link(s) to categories concerning everything set within said Scope.
- Link(s) to the in-universe and canonical pages on the Scope.
Scope Landing Pages themselves have the following format: "Scope: Insert the name of the respective Scope"
As well: An individual Scope will likely have a custom color for its borders, and or a custom background, though this is not a hard requirement, but is certainly encouraged.
How can I find more or different Scopes?
The Amaranth Legacy site provides the respected reader with several ways of discovering new content to read set in the many Scopes across our community! Through categories, searches, or listing pages!
- As well, categories concerning Scopes in of themselves can be found here:
How can I find content on just one Scope I want to read?
We have an incredibly robust category system here on Amaranth Legacy, and we highly encourage their usage by the respected reader.
As well, this site features "Scope Index Page," listing every currently released (and or planned) piece of content of the respective Scope said page is listing, giving the respected reader another option to keep their focus on what they'd like to see!
- Categories concerning the content of a Scope as a whole has the following format: "Scope: name of respective Scope"
How can I find content written by a specific author outside of Scopes?
Similar to how we provide many options to discover content of a respective Scope, discovering the broad content of an author is also provided to the respected reader through several options:
Authors each have a category listing everything they have written across any Scope, which can be found here.
As well, often the author will have a listing on their personal profiles, however, as we leave profile customization wholly up to the individual community member, this isn't always the case, and we recommend use of the categories for a more complete listing.

How do I make a Scope?
Making a Scope is extremely easy! All you have to do is write out both a "Scope Landing Page," and an in-lore page *about* your Scope's setting(s). When you make a Scope, be sure to message one of our staff (LordSkorne7, Duodecillionare, SunlitSmoothie) about it and we'll make you both a category, and a Scope-Notice Template.
Keep in mind you don't have to make these first, as most Scopes on this site started with just a simple in-universe lore page before growing into a full-on Scope. If you make an in-universe article first, then that's okay! We can make your Landing Page, and you can make your lore page whenever you like!
To speed things up, it'd be a good idea to make both of these things before making in-universe lore articles, but we prefer you work at the pace that best suits your needs.
- Scope Categories will appear first in your article and will have the following format: " Scope: insert name of Scope "
- Scope-Notice Templates are notices at the top of the page/article, alerting the respected reader which Scope the respective content is apart of/canon to.
Example of Scope-Notice Template seen below:
What are the limits of a Scope I make?
Scopes are limitless when concerning the content contained within itself! It can be as massive, or tiny in scale as you wish it to be! YOU have complete and total creative freedom over your Scope's storylines, content, and themes. So no worries about someone trying to strongarm you into changing things in your Scope, only YOU have the final say of what does or doesn't go into your Scope!
However, as we are an all-ages community, (13+) we would like to caution the prospective author that there are a few content restrictions concerning certain explicit content like violence or sexual themes outlined in the New Editor's Guide linked here:
So it's best to keep your work at a "PG-13" level if able. If content is particularly graphic, we will issue a "Content Warning" template at the top of your page which will urge reader caution and preferred reader age-range.
