Amendia is the fourth planet of the Agina System in the Mid Arm of the Ambrosia Galaxy with life inhabiting along its ocean's coastlines. It served as the birthplace of the Akardi species, an early type one species and also served as the capital of their theocracy
Overview
Amendia is the home and capital world of the Akardi species and as such, is the most important world in their entire society, serving as the heart of their early interstellar empire. Outside of the cultural significance to the Akardi, Amendia is most well known for the massive amounts of the strange materiel, or Thavmium known as: "Amendinite" which appears as a large purple blue crystal protruding from the icy surface near the more temperate regions of the planet such as its miniature oceans. Amendinite itself is extremely rare, only appearing on a handful of worlds across Ambrosia, and Amendia in particular holds the largest amount ever discovered.
Not only does it serve as the home world of the Akardi species, but several other forms of terrestrial flora and fauna as well, though unlike other worlds of its like, due to the extremity of most of the planet's surface this life can only exist near the warm ocean currents, leaving more then seventy percent of the planet uninhabited.
At one point in its history, it was invaded by the Julietic Empire as they attempted to expand further out into the Mid Arm. Once it was discovered that the planet was inhabited by intelligent beings, and that the planet was rich in the then undiscovered materiel of Amendinite, the empire subsequently enslaved the Akardi and took control of their home world. However with time, the Akardi were able to beat back their occupiers and rest control of the world once more.
Later on it would also be discovered by the Ambrosia Alliance of United Systems, and, rather then attempting to seize control of the planet, would offer the Akardi a place within the Alliance, allowing for vast amounts of trade and technological opportunities.
Geography
The primary terrain of Amendia is one massive icy tundra stretching out throughout millions of kilometres covered in thick layers of snow. Across the snowy surface are several large mountains, canyons, and impact craters. In rare occasions one may find a molten volcano as well, though these are spread few and far between.
Towards the more northern hemisphere of the planet, the existence of liquid oceans of water can be found, thanks to the axial tilt of the planet facing that particular hemisphere towards its parent star, allowing for liquids to exist. Due to the warmth created by the ocean's currents, this has become the most temperate region of the planet, and as such, has allowed for life to flourish all along the coast, hugging to the oceans sandy beaches.
Climate
Amendia is extremely cold, with an average surface temperature of around negative fifty-five degrees, leaving most of the planet blanketed in ice and snow and preventing the formation of life. Along with the temperature itself, the overall climate of the planet is also quite hostile with massive blizzards enveloping millions of kilometres at a time, as well as massive hail storms, shooting down icy rocks around ten kilometres in diameter.
Population
As a result of the planet being the spiritual capital of the Akardi species, the planet holds the largest concentration of Akardi in the entire Ambrosia Galaxy, with a population of around five hundred and fifty billion.
