Alliance of Planets
Amyxcis IV or Amyxcis 4 is a large, life-bearing, planet habitable to humans. Amyxcis’s atmosphere is very similar to Earth’s especially in oxygen and nitrogen levels. As the planet’s name suggests it is the fourth planet away from the sun.
90% of the planets surface is covered in oceans the majority of which are calm, warm and relatively shallow. Though, there are a wide variety of trenches and benthic plains and the poles can get quite cold, freezing over every winter and creating large plains of sea ice.
The landmasses on Amyxcis IV are mainly comprised of islands, the largest of which being no larger than Madagascar. These lamdmasses are covered in tangled masses of simplistic plant-like organisms and towering fungal creatures that provide homes for many small island dwelling animals.
Sapient Races
Amyxcis IV is home to two sapient lifeforms.
The Soooo are, somewhat unsurprisingly, a marine species. They live as aquatic nomads, traveling in huge pods of up to 500 individuals searching for reefs and seamounts to find food in.
The Speedpods, are native to the islands and open skies above the Amyxcian seas, they have no given name for themselves and are so named after their blistering speeds and pod-like radially symmetrical bodies,
Speedpods spend much of their life air-born, using a variety of gas-filled bladders and an organic jet propulsion system to propel themselves at speeds of up to 300 miles per hour, where they catch smaller flying creatures in midair.
Amyxian Biotas
Amyxcis IV is home to a staggering variety of life, nurtured by the planets calm climate and abundant resources.
Amyxcian Mantas are colossal filter feeders that bear similarity to the Manta Rays of Earth. Their wingspans can reach up to 59 feet from wingtip to wingtip and they live mostly out in the open oceans filtering plankton from the warm water. Though they often visit the shallows and reefs, where they are worshipped by many Sooo pods.
A variety of Manta species live on Amyxcis IV
- Black-and-White Manta
- Central Sea Manta
- Eastern Sea Manta
- Leviathan Manta
- Western Sea Manta
The Aspidochelone is a monstrous marine filter feeder, reaching well over 600 feet in length. These creatures will bury themselves in the sediment, and sit in place using the multitude of feeding orifaces along their body to extract any edible particles out of the water and sediment. They are very efficient and spend so little time moving that coral-analogues will take anchor on their rough skin, and if given enough time may form coral atolls atop their backs.
Sharks
- Flightless Skyshark
- Honeycreeper Skysharks
- Hummingbird Skysharks
- Oceanic Skyshark
- Reef Skyshark
- Rockpool Weasel
- Stormchaser Shark
- Wa Nu Shark - one of if not the most terrifying apex predators on Amyxcis IV, they often hunt the native Soooo, Amyxcian Mantas and will even take chunks out of the giant Aspidochelones, Balaenas and Leviathans. They are also not averse to takimg bites out of boats and other alien vessels that they come across. But Wa Nu Sharks are not aggressive, instead they are curious of new objects as they are highly intelligent creatures, so much so that some Xenobiologists advocate the species should be regarded as the third sapient race on Amyxcis IV.
The Reefstrider is the largest terrestrial creature on the planet. They walk across the many islands and across the vast shallow seas picking up eating any smaller creatures they can find.
Reefwaders
Smaller Relatives of the Reefstrider, they fill a similar ecological niche as herons do on Earth.
