Apple Nebula

The Apple Nebula is one of the largest objects within the Silky Way. A supermassive starforming region centered on Aesin, the nebula is the second largest known seed cluster within the Silky Way galaxy, far above structures like the Karvel Cluster and even the Vernarca Nebula. It can be found within the Hinthorn Sector near the inner edge of the galactic ring, approximately 45,000 light-years from Demos, and is uniquely connected to the far distant Vernarca Nebula through the Szalana Wormhole

The Apple Nebula is home to an enormous diversity of species and cultures, although its sheer size and young age makes much of it hopelessly irradiated and life-bearing worlds much more spread out. The regions of the nebula most easily accessible from the Szalana Wormhole are dominated by the Alliance of Five, a group of five powerful nations which are currently undergoing societal reform following the close of the War of the Broken Bow.

Physically, the Apple Nebula is utterly enormous, but its structure is split into several smaller subclusters with densities of life much higher or lower than the relatively low average of the nebula as a whole. Species from the Alsur to the Xeraphin find their homes within its clouds, and a massive variety of nations of all sizes can be found here. The nebula is centered on the Gemstone Cluster of supermassive stars, all of which date to the resurgence of the nebula surrounding the seed cluster.

Civilizations

The Apple Nebula is filled with thousands of civilizations, ranging in size from the planetary scale to controlling hundreds of stars. After the War of the Broken Bow, the nebula is largely at peace, although many of the larger civilizations are undergoing massive societal change. At present, the Alliance of Five nations remain the dominant powers, although the alliance is showing signs of breaking apart. The Vernarcan Federation is gaining newfound influence within the region around the Szalana Wormhole as well.

Species and Homeworlds

The Apple Nebula is vast, and thus comes with a comparably large population. Due to the heightened danger of this region of space, life-bearing worlds are much farther apart. Many species from the connected Vernarca Nebula in the remote Ervo Sector can also be found here due to the discovery of the Szalana Wormhole in 123 AC, a phenomenon highly uncommon in the seed clusters of the Silky Way.
