Antonio Pigafetta, circa 1519

"The Antarctic pole has no star of the fate of the Arctic pole, but we see many stars congregated together, which are like two nebulae, a little separated from each other, and a little in the middle."

Entry on Tiqqun/The Palace, United Sol Command spokesperson, 2567

"The Tiqqun project began in the late 24th century as a collaborative effort involving the United LunaTerra, the Cetus Federal Republic, and the Ceres Shipyards. The goal was to create the most advanced Anti-De-Sitter (AdS) generational megaship ever built, capable of transporting humanity on its next grand expedition to the nearby Large Magellanic Cloud."

"Designed to push the boundaries of AdS drive technology, Tiqqun was envisioned as a self-sustaining vessel capable of traveling up to 2,000,000 light-years with its own onboard fuel replenishment systems. It featured nine colossal megaship engines for normal space maneuvering and cutting-edge AdS drives, though travel speed was deliberately reduced in favor of long-term sustainability from AdS tensors."

The Library records on Argela Vayer

The Archangelic writings record the name "Argela Vayer" as the ancient designation for what is now known as the Large Magellanic Cloud. When translated into modern linguistic structures, it corresponds to "Argelvats Vayr," which carries the meaning: "Forbidden Place."

According to the recorded history within The Library, the Archangels first encountered hints of ε¹¹ during their studies of the universe's dimensional geometries, specifically while observing the direction towards the Universal Center. A leading figure within the Archangels' scientific community noticed inconsistencies and gaps in the observational data, initially dismissing these as system errors. However, a second-in-command, tasked with verifying the data before archiving it, decided to investigate further. By replacing the missing data with blank packets and carefully filtering the rest, a visual pattern emerged—revealing a self-similar, fractal-like geometric structure that resembled a string. This discovery was initially dismissed by the Archangel collective as a mere coincidence, likely caused by hardware malfunctions.

When the Athezians were granted limited access to The Library, a group of biochemists stumbled upon an archived file labeled X55124-Y123-Z12-W6774, Article Ψ12i by Humans. The file contained records of the Archangels' earlier discovery, which the Archangels initially referred to as Sheeyahie Kaf'shey, translating roughly to Mother Universe Art. Inspired, they used their own bioengineering technologies to replicate the Archangels' observations, directing their instruments toward the same region of space. This time, however, their tools detected an unusual pulsation pattern— a rhythmic, beating pulse that became evident when the data was converted into sound waves. When they shared this newfound information with both the Archangels and the Tionislans, the Archangels revisited their earlier conclusions, reconsidering the structure they had dismissed. What was once Mother Universe Art soon became recognized as Edge of Eternity, a more profound and enigmatic entity than originally thought.

Within the Great Library, the Archangels documented several theories regarding a mysterious structure known to humans as Epsilon-11. This ever-present anomaly, detectable at every point in space and time, was hypothesized to be the result of an instrumental malfunction—or more precisely, the consequence of an unknown force generating an unfathomably powerful field. If such an entity existed, it had to be nearby.

Their focus turned to the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), once known as Veri Sahlehtar, before its name was later changed to Argela Vayer, meaning "Forbidden Place." For centuries, the LMC had drawn Archangelic interest, not for its resources or strategic value—both of which were negligible, especially with Bridges granting access to far richer worlds—but for the strange hum-like signal patterns and anomalous energy impulses emanating from the satellite galaxy.

Despite an ongoing conflict with the entities known to humans as Archdemons, the High Authorities sanctioned an exploratory mission to both Magellanic Clouds—Veri Sahlehtar (Large Magellanic Cloud) and Pokar Sahlehtar (Small Magellanic Cloud). With their advanced Anti-de Sitter drives, the journey would take one week, a contrast to the seven-year voyage it would take for Humanity’s Palace Megaship.

The expedition fleet was the largest known in the history of the Milky Way, comprising nearly 900,000 Archangels, while the second expedition to the Small Magellanic Cloud consisted of a smaller yet still formidable force of 117,000 individuals.

The Archangels embarked on their dual expeditions to the Magellanic Clouds with unwavering confidence, as if they were traveling blindfolded into the unknown. Their protocols dictated that a status report be transmitted one week after arrival.

But when the moment came—there was nothing. Silence. A deafening, absolute silence.

Concern turned into fear as repeated attempts to contact the expeditions failed without a trace. Every effort to reestablish communication yielded no response. With over a million Archangels presumed lost, the expedition was officially declared a total disaster, marking one of the greatest population losses in recorded history of Science. In response, the Small Magellanic Cloud expedition was immediately recalled before it could meet the same fate.

Then, precisely 162,980 years later, an anomaly occurred. A radio facility stationed at the edge of the intergalactic void intercepted a distress signal—an SOS. The signal originated from the Large Magellanic Cloud, from the very expedition long thought to be erased from existence.

The transmission, traveling at 99.9999999999% of the speed of light, contained a video recording—one that would send chills through even the most hardened of Archangels. The footage depicted the final moments of the lost expedition:

Survivors screaming in sheer terror. Blinding light erupting from beyond the horizon. A fraction of a second later, complete and utter vaporization. Then—blackness. The recording ended abruptly.

The horrifying evidence was immediately presented to the High Authorities, and after reviewing it, a unanimous decision was made: No one would ever set foot in Veri Sahlehtar again.

The region was officially sanctioned, forbidden for any reason, no exceptions. Those who had access to the archival logs began to refer to it in hushed whispers as "Argela Vayer", the Forbidden Place. And thus, the name stuck. The final haunting moment of the transmission showed a single phrase, etched onto a wall before the footage cut to black. When translated, it read:

"Attempt no visit ever."

It was short. It was simple. But it carried a terror deeper than words could convey. For a species that prided itself on being the mightiest in the galaxy, the Archangels—who feared nothing— found themselves reduced to frightened children in the face of an unknown force.

Human Recordings

Ancient Human recordings on Large Magellanic Cloud First recorded mention in human history, by Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi, 900's

Al-Ṣūfī made his astronomical observations at a latitude of 32.7N° in Isfahan. It has been claimed that he identified the Large Magellanic Cloud, but this seems to be a misunderstanding of a reference to some stars south of Canopus which he admits he has not seen. He also made the earliest recorded observation of the Andromeda Galaxy in 964, describing it as a "small cloud". This was the first galaxy other than the Milky Way to be mentioned in writing.
