Asteron is a species of luminescent azure fish native to the vibrant oceans of Lysterlia, and has since been introduced to countless other worlds in order to either diversify their ecology or act as a source of sustenance for the people. They thrive on thousands of terraformed worlds in Midonia, with diverse subspecies created through genetic engineering, as their exquisite taste and ease of preparation have made it a culinary staple for countless cultures.

Vast aquaculture facilities have been established around the galaxy, fashioned to nurture asterons in rich, idyllic underwater habitats until they reach maturity. Once they have matured, they are then caught and processed into countless food products, sustaining the galaxy's ever-growing population.

Curious and friendly critters, asterons spend their lives traveling across their waters in large schools, often containing hundreds of individuals, peacefully grazing on the aquatic grass and algae. They are commonly preyed on by ferocious predators on their home and thus have evolved to be startled by larger creatures. Despite laying hundreds of thousands of eggs throughout their lives, in nature, only a small percentage of asterons successfully reach maturity and reproduce.

Trivia

  • Strict regulations imposed on the planet's corporations saved asterons from extinction on Lysterlia.
