Astraea, formerly known as 61 Virginis c, is an ice giant orbiting the Sun-like star 61 Virginis. Discovered in 2009 by observatories in Hawaii and Australia, it was named after Astraea, the Greek goddess of justice and accuracy, who was said to have been the last goddess to leave Earth and became the constellation Virgo. It was also named such because Astraea was a suggested name for the planet Uranus (proposed by Erik Prosperin of Uppsala, Sweden), and further investigations of the planet in 26 877 CE revealed that Astraea and its moons are eerily similar to Uranus and its moons.
To prevent name conflicts, the asteroid 5 Astraea in the Sol System was converted into a spaceship.
