The Catacombs of Saqqara are a series of labyrinthine tunnels and caves located benath the Saqqara Pyramids in Egypt. These catacombs are the resting place for many species of Kaiju which were once revered as gods and goddesses to the ancient Egyptians, hibernating safe and hidden from the world above,

Wildlife of the Catacombs

  • Abtu Fish - A species of colossal golden cichlid, related closely to the Nile Tilapia. These fish feed upon the excrement of Kaiju and other creatures that is washed into the Catacombs waterways. They are also often seen flanking any large creature that wanders into the water, in hopes that they can get to any excreted waste first.
  • Bahariasaurus - Blind, pale, cave-descendants of Cretaceous-era theropods that used to roam the area millions of years ago. They inhabit the deepest reaches of the catacombs caves, hunting prey using echolocation and heat-sensitive pits along their snouts.
  • Carcharodontosaurus - Pale, almost blind descendants of huge theropod dinosaurs. These 40 foot lomg Carcharodontosaurs are adapted to weave through the twisting narrow passages of the catacombs. They are extremely flexible, able to contort their bodies in seemingly impossible ways to pursue prey that they track using echolocation.
  • Catacomb Cobras - a variety of Cobra species are found throughout the catacombs and caves. Many of which are well-adapted to life exclusively underground, and many more becoming much larger than their surface-dwelling relatives, reaching up to 20 feet in length.
  • Catacomb Crocodile - relatively recent denizens of the catacombs, these relatives of the common Nile Crocodile are not too dissimilar than their amcestors, though they possess magnificent gold and rust-colored scales and have larger head with more exaggerated teeth.
  • Catacomb Frogs - there is over a hundred different species of frogs that can be found in the Catacombs.
  • Medjed Elephant Fish - one of the most common fish in the catacomb’s waterways the Medjed fish is constantly emitting weak electric pulses, which it uses to navigate in the darkness, locate prey and to communicate with others of its kind. The Medjed fish is also capable of producing strong electric shock to stun their prey and dissuade predators from trying to eat them.
