Consortium

The Consortium, often called the Xyreach Consortium by those outside it's borders, is a major Sphere within the Sky River Gyre. The Consortium was founded in a relatively resource-deprived region of the Sky River, with a multitude of competing powers attempting to secure what little there was for themselves. The Consortium began primarily as a trade power, focused on economic development. The foundational document was made and signed on Xyreach, which later became it's capital world.

It originally was not a Sphere, but rather a trade bloc, made up of several smaller Spheres, and independent worlds.

Recognizing that they could do nothing about the limited amount of resources within their local region, the Consortium instead focused on equitable distribution - Each member state would be provided its fair share, and they were to invest those resources into their populations - Instead of relying on resource extraction, they would invest in the one resource they all shared - their populations.

As time passed, and they came into contact with other Spheres, the need for a united front became readily apparent. This lead to the formation of the consortium, which was one again hosted, and founded, on Xyreach, which became the capital.
