Dakotaraptors are a species of sapient, dromaeosaur dinosaurs native to the planet Earth. This species was one of the three dominant sapient races on Earth 66 million years ago, alongside Saurornitholestes and Troodon, but were wiped out when a meteorite collided with the Earth. Only two Dakotaraptors survived by locking themselves in cryogenic chambers, where they awoke in the 20th Century, those two being Victor Veloci and Joan Moynihan.
There are two species of Dakotaraptor, D. sapiens and D. steini. Dakotaraptor steini is a non-sapient species while D. sapiens is much smaller and has human levels of intelligence.
