Demonkin

Scope: Glimpse of Honor
From Amaranth Legacy, available at amaranth-legacy.community

The Demons are long gone, but the world is still aflame.
This content is a part of Glimpse of Honor.

Nature and Form

It is widely accepted that the Demonkin were created by Agrim, the god of night and darkness, to be his first children in Edna. From their inception, they were gifted with strength, resilience, and an innate connection to their creator, a mystical bond that manifests through visions, though the full extent of this connection is beyond mortal understanding.

The Inner Flame
Nileth is the only known Demon able to channel the Ignivar of others, using their power to cast spells of unparalleled might.

In form, the Demonkin resemble humans but are considerably taller. Adult males typically stand between 190 and 240 centimeters, while females range from 180 to 230. Their bodies are powerful and well-built, capable of feats that exceed far beyond the limits of human ability. Horns rise from their heads, shaped by bloodline and inheritance, often adorned with rings, chains, and charms that denote status or lineage. Broken horns serve as marks of punishment for great crimes or betrayal. Another distinction is their eyes: the sclera appears ashen, the iris shows tones of luminous gold, with slit pupils reflecting their inner force. Their skin tones vary between muted shades of red and blue.

Ignivar

The Demonkin are impervious to sickness and poison, a gift of Agrim, which further sets them apart from mortal creatures. Beyond their visible nature, they possess remarkable abilities. Their inner flame, known as Ignivar, grants them magical capabilities that no other living creature is known to possess. Observers have noted several traits of Ignivar:

  • The types of magical abilities vary with each Demon’s personality and natural talents.
  • The strength of Ignivar differs among individuals.
  • It is slightly weaker during daylight and appears stronger at night.
  • Frequent use of Ignivar enhances its power but gradually shortens the user’s lifespan.

Demonkin can live for several centuries, their longevity is closely tied to the strength and use of Ignivar. Those with greater mastery and understanding of their inner flame might live longer. Other than that, Demons seem to live in accordance with their perceived righteousness, given by their creator. They recognize Agrim as their origin and Neva as the creator of their siblings, the Celestials. Their society and actions reflect these beliefs up to some degree since there are few records about their culture and traditions.
