Dollglydiers (aka "Dollgliders"), are a sapient species, and one of the 2 sapient species that is native to Weimaria; the largest moon of the gas giant Sibersk, in the Epsilon Cygni system.
Background
Dollglydiers first evolved approximately 1.5 million years ago, descended from a species of small nocturnal carnivores. As Dollglydier society progressed, a common theme many philosophers noticed was that societies based around unity, generosity, and communalism tended to do better and last longer then the ones that didn't. This sparked the creation of an ideology similar to that of Earth's socialism centered around those values. Many Dollglydier and Fomorian states slowly began to unify and integrate into one planet-wide superstate known as the United Weimarien Commune. However, more reactionary states also began unifying into their own superstate known simply as the Weimarien Order. Despite peace efforts, all out war between the superstates ensued, culminating in the collapse and annexation of the Order by the Commune. 2 centuries later, UWC began its exploration out into space. The Crepusculans were the first interplanetary species that the Dollglydier established relations with, and the two moons later joined the Alliance of Planets together.
Appearance
On average, Dollglydiers are around 5.6 feet tall, 13 feet long, and weigh around 210 lbs. Dollglydiers have a body plan similar to that of the theropods of Earth, likely due to convergent evolution, as Weimaria has a rather earth-like climate and geography. Dollglydiers possess 4 limbs, with their forelimbs having evolved into elongated wing frames with skin membranes stretched in between. Their forelimbs possess a flexible joint on the wing that allows their wings to fold in multiple ways to prevent their wings from being caught on things in their environment. These joints lock when a Dollglydier fully unfurls their wings when becoming airborne. Being forearms, their wings have each have a 3-fingered hand with an apposable thumb. Dollglydier also have large skin membranes that connect to the base of their tails.
The head of a Dollglydier notably resembles that of a barracuda. Dollglydier possess six feather-like structures that extend from a few inches behind their eyes. Dollglydiers have very flexible tails that allow them to easily spray venom from their tail spikes from many different angles. Dollglydiers are covered in scales that can range in color, namely various shades of blue, pink, green, yellow, and purple.
Natural Abilities
- Flying + Gliding - While Dollglydiers are capable of powered flight, they aren't able to keep it up for a long period of time. Usually, a Dollglydier will flap their wings to gain significant altitude and then glide for miles.
- Teeth + Claws - Dollglydiers have sharp teeth, as well as sharp claws on their hands and feet.
- Venom - Dollglydiers have spikes on the end of their tails that can spray venom. When Dollglydier venom makes contact with a creature's skin, it will cause irritation at the sight of contact. The symptoms of Dollglydier venom include: confusion, amnesia, coordination difficulties, paranoia, dizziness, slowed reaction time, vomiting, and in some cases, loss of consciousness
