Overview
The Dreadcamp is a frozen prison world orbiting a red giant star in the blackened void of extragalactic space. It is situated between the Eulciar Galaxy and the Aylothn Galaxy, and is utilized by the Eulciar Coalition as a penal colony for individuals convicted of major crimes.
History
Discovered in 54,021 CE during a routine survey mission, the Dreadcamp was found to be composed almost entirely of high-quality mineral deposits. Its remote location in extragalactic space, unbound to any parent galaxy, initially posed logistical challenges. Penal transportations to the Dreadcamp began in 72,901 CE, coinciding with the start of mining operations. The system's red giant star is projected to expire within several million years. Originally, the system contained four planets, a result of the star’s high metal content; the Dreadcamp is the outermost of these. Speculation persists regarding the possibility of past habitability on the inner planets.
Population
The Dreadcamp maintains a minimal population due to the low crime rates of the Eulciar Galaxy. This galaxy is characterized by comprehensive social welfare and the absence of poverty, contributing to an overall reduction in criminal activity.
Location
Positioned in deep space between the Eulciar and Aylothn Galaxies, the Dreadcamp orbits a solitary red giant star. It is the only planet in its system which contains no moons, rings, or significant asteroid fields.
Escape from the planet by its criminal population is rendered virtually impossible, as the nearest extrastellar celestial destinations would require over a million years of travel at light speed. This would mean that any would-be escapee would first need to procure FTL capable vessels — a feat in of itself due to the lack of such devices in any immediate proximity; with ships capable of faster than light travel only remaining so long as to deposit prisoners to the planet.
