Eden (Planet)

Eden is a temperate

E-Class human colony world located near the edge of Thulcandran space. It was discovered in 3404 and settled in 3612.

Climate

The planet's climate is much cooler than that of Earth, however summers are warm enough for locals to walk around in loose cooler clothing, especially when near the equator. To the delight of the colonists, many of the trees were bioluminescent, and the forests were much warmer places to live.

History

About two hundred years after the Thulcandran Federation was formed, a group known as the Edenites arose on many major Federation worlds. Their philosophy was that technology was causing people to lose touch with their roots. They searched and found the perfect planet near the edge of Thulcandran space. Christening it Eden, they began the process of terraforming it while at the same time performing extensive genetic engineering on themselves, splitting into different races reminiscent of human fantasy (Dwarves, Elves etc.)

With this acceptance, the first colonists made an application for the construction of an artificial moon in orbit in order to protect the planet and to create artificial tides. When initial experiments were performed on the local wildlife with regards to a new moon, it was discovered that the moon's albedo would need to be lower so as not to disturb local nighttime. The moon was constructed during and after the terraforming process and was given its own atmosphere. The surface was arranged to look like Earth's own moon, but with darker dust. This was to make the colonists feel a sense of homeliness and comfort. this project was in the works for many millennia, until the moon was created.

After terraforming, each new governor sat down and discussed land options. What was obvious was that the new colonists would have to change their offspring quickly. This was in order for them to adapt to their changes, at least until terraforming was done.

The other races were spread out across many of the

continents. However they couldn't escape technology completely as since they were a part of the Federation they were required to have representatives in the Senate.

When the Star Beasts were discovered thousands of years later, the Edenites adopted many of them and began to explore the galaxy in a manner that they were more comfortable with.
