Overview

The Edian Races are a Civilized Racial Group that has had a profound and inescapable impact in the analogs of recorded history across the whole of the Known World. They stand as the single most prolific and populace racial group in all the Terrestrial World, as the Edian Races are the collective descendants of the immortal Inomeni race known as the Edia, who reigned over the vast majority of the world for thousands of years during the long-form Archaistic Era.

For much of known history to the modern day, the Edian Races have held unparalleled dominion over the known world, having spread through the length and breadth of the globe, conquering and incorporating the collective lands of East and West as their own. As well as being the most populace, the Edian Races comprise the most individual races of any of the Civilized Races, holding ten distinctive races underneath their umbrella.

As a result, the varying forms in which the Edian Races individual member races can adopt are extremely vast and varied, with some appearing to share little to no common heritage with one another. Despite the variable form in which they can adopt, the Edian Races all contain within them a shared bloodline as the last remnants of the once great global Edian Empire, and have exemplified this shared bond by their sheer and utter dominance over the planet during the centuries of recorded history.

The Edian Races were created during the Archaistic Era, in the twilight years of the Edian Empire. Born from the rising and encroaching concept of finite existence — introduced to the world through the climactic Curse of Mortality — each Edian race developed its own distinct racial form, determined by the forms of which their Edia ancestors had taken at that stage of time.

Influence

Historical Influence

Nearly every major, world-shaping event recorded or otherwise in the annals of history, bares the mark of the Edian, whether enacted by the Edian Races themselves, or by their ancestral Edia forbearers. There is little deviation from this principle, as nearly every event affecting the globe in its entirety has, at some point, been directly influenced by someone or something descended from the Edia.

However, historically, the direct impact of the Edian Races themselves has been significantly less pronounced compared to that of their Edian ancestors. Despite this relative disparity, they still have largely dominated most other racial groups in the histories, albeit it with variance depending on region.

Contemporary Influence

As of the current year of 3,066 YM, much of the Known World's great nations are ruled — and have long been ruled — by an Edian majority, a trend that has continued for centuries. Notable examples include the Westland Imperial Provinces of Northhaven, High Castle, Vorminheim, and Cloudspire, as well as the Eastern Union States of Andiroth and Rothvelgar. While other races and racial hold influence in the local divisional governments of these mentioned powers, the Edian presence remains the foremost defining feature of global power structures.

Beyond simple political and governmental influence, the Edian Races have largely defined the cultural, academic, and literary landscape of the modern world. Their philosophies shape contemporary education systems, their language of "New Edian" largely dominates global trade and diplomacy. From literature and architecture to arcane law and intercontinental infrastructure, Edian influence is deeply woven into the fabric of daily life across nearly every major civilization.
