Esakar-paki
The esakar-paki (Tayassu rufus) is an ungulate reported from the Sangay National Park and the Trans-Cutucú region of Ecuador.
The esakar-paki is the smallest of all peccaries, it has reddish fur, they are extremely social living in troops made up of 50 or 60 individuals. The troop is lead by the oldest male in the group,
When an esakar-paki male reaches over 8 years old he undergoes a hormonal shift, flooding his system with testosterone, causing their fur to become even redder in coloration and become far more aggressive than normal.
It is far more aggressive than its relative the white-lipped peccary
According to them, esakar-paki troops are leaded by a small, old individual, reddish in colour, which is particularly fearless of humans."
