The God's Prison Nebula is a large region of space 98 light years from Sol, existing below the local group of stars. It was first reached in the 2700s by a fleet of autonomous spacecraft belonging to the Republic looking for worlds to mine, with the results leading to the mission being redesignated for colonisation instead as the worlds it came across shown an abundance of water and fuel. Bussard Ramjets sent between the stars collect lots of excess materials from the nebula, and the planets are rich in metals making for a lot of potential when it comes to the local economy. This potential, though, is counteracted by the wars that take place within the walls of the nebula.

Owing to its name, the few descendants of the original colonists live between two tugging factions with little of their own resources and little of their own infrastructure, with most of the infrastructure established here belonging to the factions to be used in the conflicts fought between the Republic and Imperium. These conflicts start right from the first decade of colonisation as the Republic came into contact with with fleets consisting of many spacecraft containing weapons systems developed in secret on [[Naivasana]] over a century earlier, having been sent to establish the Imperium's headquarters in the nebula. The war escalated quickly with much of the military being sent from the Republic to disarm the forces, although the weapons developed came to be far too much to fight against. Much of the Imperium's firepower came in the form of energy bombs capable of disrupting equipment from several light seconds away and highly focused lasers made to melt spacecraft from tens of thousands of kilometres away - although powerful, weapons reserves were limited and with time the Republic militaries were able to bring the fight to a balance as the Imperium burned through the resources they imported from [[Naivasana]].

Nowadays the region is somewhat in the Republic's control. Frequent and sporadic attacks, and short battles, are common as the planets under control of the Imperium launch attempts to cause damage to important and strategic points to the Republic, such as the starports and fuel production facilities around the nebula. Some systems that have become tired of the constant battles have been able to negotiate peace treaties, although the majority have been insistent on pushing back opposing forces.

The Sora's Hold system remains a point of strategic importance as it contains a black hole consuming a star, releasing tremendous amounts of energy that can be easily utilized from a distance. Gas pulled from the star and ejected into near space could also allow Bussard-equipped ships to quickly refuel their tanks without having to go near a starport or wait for too long in orbit, although with powerful combat ships guarding the region it's hard for larger and slower vessels to wait too long here before being caught by scanners and getting intercepted. On the second planet of Sora's Hold is a former Terran penal colony, located decently far from the central star, and is on constant surveillance by the local police force. Though many incidents involving the colony have occurred, it is largely able to be contained.
