This content is a part of Local Universe.

Holo's Call was the name for Myrkálfan religious order, including its rituals, morality, and mythology. The religion, a precursor to the Ibaradist faith, came into existence sometime around 200,000 BCE as refugees from the destroyed Ohko's Civilization fled to Inflorescence in large number. Holo's Call emphasized personal sacrifice and humility as the means by which one can "pay their debts" to each other, society, and most importantly their god Holo. A heavily monotheistic religion, Holo's Call held that only one Engel was worthy of worship, with all others thought of as inferior or evil.

The religion was the predominant religion of the Myrkálfar until their extinction shortly after the War of the Final Transition in 450 CE. Notable for its extreme religious practices, Holo's Call remains unique not just in their brutality, but also in their scale. Tens of quadrillions would be killed in rituals and the entire Myrkálfan population would take part in regular ritualistic "self-sacrifice," usually involving the severing of digits or limbs and subsequent replacement with mechanical augments.

Records of the religion remain sparse as the various wars against the Myrkálfar, often started over religious conflict, systematically destroyed the various priests, temples, and organizations keeping the religion alive. While many records remain, they vary so much in content that only general themes could be ascertained. Additionally, since the documents were almost exclusively written in an unfavorable light, it is unknown how trustworthy they are. Most information about the religion comes from a testimony from the crew of the YSS Last Game, a ship captured by the last remnants of the Myrkálfar. Older records do exist, but it is often the case that the civilizations that waged war on the Myrkálfar were themselves lost to time, resulting in little information overall being available.

Role of Holo's Call in Myrkálfan Culture

The theme of sacrifice heavily pervaded Myrkálfan culture. Everything from their creation myth to morality was dependent on this idea. Holo's Call marked a symbolic
