The Hook Island Sea Monster (???) is a huge, marine amphibian native to the Pacific Ocean, Melanesia, Indonesia and Australia.

Able to reach 90 - 100 feet, tadpole shaped and almost entirely black in coloration.

These marine salamanders usually inhabit the seafloor of deeper waters but occasionally will be seen in shallower waters, though this is usually due to the animal being sick or old and dying.
Due to their elusive nature, not much is known about this species.
