Template:InfoboxPlanet Igolath, located in the irregular galaxy IC 1613 is a temperate [[Planet Class|M world and the homeworld of the Ohiatur.
History
Igolath formed over ten billion years ago around a class G7V star which the natives call the First Orb. Igolath formed in a way typical of its kind, collecting a mass around an iron-nickel core and forming a protoplanet.
Throughout it's prehistoric era, the planet was subject to many periods of heavy bombardment, causing any and all life that took hold to go extinct. The heavier bombardments eventually ceased around 1 billion years ago and life began to eventually take hold.
Over the next half billion years, life slowly spread across the planet, reaching near extinction on five different occasions. Around 400 million BCE, the descendants of modern Igolath plant and animal life began to evolve.
Over the next 350 million years, these ancestral species finally evolved into more complex life, eventually forming the proto-Ohiatur, who used their ability to fly to spread fast across the planet, forming small civilizations. Thanks to their ability to fly, the Ohiatur civilization was slower to rise and when the planet was finally discovered in 11091 CE by humans, the Ohiatur still had a geocentric view of their world.
In 19732, the planet, thanks in part to the Ohiatur discovery of FTL, began to colonize nearby worlds and eventually Igolath became the capital world of a small interstellar government. Unfortunately during the War of the Decamillenial Transition the planet became embroiled in the war. Near the end of the war, many citizens participated in the Thulcandran Evacuation, leaving behind only 450 million inhabitants. However, when the CUEN was formed, the planet became one of the first member worlds. Currently the planet has a population of 5.6 billion.
