Isheld

Scope: Borealis Universe
From Amaranth Legacy, available at amaranth-legacy.community

"We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still."
This content is a part of Borealis Universe.

Isheld is the second moon of the planet Duanal in a star system located near the boundary of the center of the Silver Halo Galaxy. Its surface appears barren and battered by asteroid impacts, but beneath the surface lies huge seas of water. It is the home planet of the Ishelds – the species holds the same name as the moon.

Designated as RS 0-6-60852-657-3149-8-3462095-309 2.3 in version 0.990 of Space Engine.

History

It formed within two disks of dust and gas that surrounded two young stars. The stars eventually fell into a stable orbit and provided the system with light and heat. The giant gas world of Duanal captured Isheld into orbit about a billion years after it formed. The gravitational tug between the icy moon and the gas giant melted the ice below the crust and formed seas of fresh water.

In roughly 500,700,000 BCE, a descendent of a long, squid-like creature began developing tools and weapons to hunt prey. Over the millennia, their tentacles adapted to the use of artificial objects. Their hands resembled two palms with a round sucker on each one. However, despite this adaptation to the environment, they had no legs, only one long tail, much like the mythical Mermaids of Earth.

After all of the pandemics that swept across their world, they banded together and decided to create a planetary-wide government. Different ideologies competed for the office of Prime Minister. Eventually they agreed to a national unity government, bringing in all political parties for a temporary, short-term government. An election was held in the following weeks.

Sometime in 500 Million BCE, the moon would become a warzone in the Extinction War.
