Jersalnaa

The Jersalnaa are tall, tree like beings that move around slowly, on thousands of tiny "legs" that are on average 3 millimetres in length, but can support up to 500 kg together. Due to the low gravity of their home planet, Illas'dqua, the Jersalnaa are 4 meters high, as well as weigh on average 190 kg.

Description

The Jersalnaa have many little "legs" that are a couple of millimetres long each. They have "trunk" that is a metres in every dimension except hieght. This trunk extends upward a couple of metres, until their is a bulge in the trunk. Inside this bulge, all major Organs are kept, as well as the sensory centre for the whole body. Go up anther half-metre, we come to the canopy. Here, around 150 branches each 5 metres long twirl around each other. These branches are remarkably similar to Human Hair, as they posses the ability to regrow, and they are made out of keratin. The senses are kept in these "hairs" to sense the world around them. The Jersalnaa see in Infra-red, but no other spectrum. The sensory organism for sight is located on the end of the hair. Smell, well, the Jersalnaa don't have it. Taste is facilitated by a small extremely sensitive patch in their trunk, that is different for each Jersalnaa. If this patch gets damaged, the Jersalnaa in person may never Taste again. Hearing is their key way around the world, as their planet is incredibly diverse in the sounds that it makes. 20 different ear-like things are located up and down the hairs, so the Jersalnaa have 3000 different ears. This makes it virtually impossible for a Jersalnaa to lose its hearing.

Intelligence

The Jersalnaa are relatively intelligent for such a young race, having discovered General and Special Relativity, as well as Quantum Gravity and Physics. There is growing suspicion that the Jersalnaa were contacted, even though the Contact Directive prohibits it. Once they theoretically discover the Warp Drive, they will no-longer be protected by the Contact Directive, and will be flooded with Aliens. Hopefully they will take it peacefully, and become a actual member of the Universal Community.

History

2 billion years ago, an interstellar asteroid collided with early Illas'dqua. This asteroid delivered microbes, that all life on Illas'dqua is currently descended from. over the next 1.5 billion years, all there was on Illas'dqua was microbes. But then, for an unknown reason, suddenly, there was a huge explosion of life. Huge beings, tens of metres tall, evolved in the space of 5 million years from microscopic organisms. Then, an asteroid impact 56 million years ago wiped out these so-called Sruasonid, in a place known toady as Bulcxihc. The Bulcxihc Impact destroyed all life larger than a few metres, so the primordial Jersalnaa (1.2 metres) just scraped through. Pre-Jersalnaa, as well as a whole host of rodent-like creatures, made it through and evolved into what is seen today on Illas'dqua.

Culture

Currently, the Jersalnaa have no Religions. The unknown contact with a being couple of centuries ago wiped out any beliefs they might have had about a creator deity. All they believe in now is Science, Reason, and Logic. On contrary to many other races, "Nerds" as they are called, are the most popular and revered children at "school".
