Overview

The Jovian Commonwealth is a set of sovereign states located on the moons of Jupiter. The Jovian Commonwealth was formed in 2260 after the Jovian War and the reorganisation of the Jovian Federation. The Jovian Commonwealth has a population of almost 825.9 Million on all its territories combined with the most of the population being based in Ganymede.

The Jovian commonwealth consists of 3 major sovereign republics within itself, those respectively being the Federal State of Europa, Callistan Republic and Republic of Ganymede.

The Jovian Commonwealth is closely modelled after that of the European Union, with organisations such as the Jovian Trade Organisation, Jovian Financial Union.

Etomology

The planetary name Jupiter comes from the roman god, Jupiter and its predecessor, the greek Zeus. Jove is also an accepted term within the Jovian lingosphere.

The Jovian Federation - 2196

The Jovian Federation was created as a ecconomic and millitary alliance between the Galliean moons in 2230 after many negotiations. The organisations end goal was the creation of a united Jovian State capable of taking on, or surpassing inner system powers.

The Jovian Federation's constitution was officially ratified on the 12th of Janurary 2200 after many delays.

The Jovian War - 2256-2257

The Jovian war was a conflict taking place in and around the Jupiter system between the Jovian Liberation Front and the Jovian Federation following the "Ice war". It lasted from December 21st 2256 - February 14th 2257 and resulted in the destruction of nearly half of all settlements on Callisto and the shattering of the moon Himalia.

It was the first time in recorded history that a Gigaton Thermonuclear weapon was used in any conflict and resulted in the death of almost 119 Million civilians and caused the formation of the Jovian Commonwealth in 2260.

This war would result in long-term demographic decline of the Callistan Republic and the end of the cold war between the JF and JLF.

The Jovian Commonwealth - 2260

The Jovian federation would be founded in 2260 after the fallout of the Jovian Wars, it in itself a official union between all the republics of the Jovian systems. The Jovian commonwealth itself was created to prevent intersystem conflict and to attempt to increase their influence in wider solar system politics.

Its first snap election would result in Admiral Radovan Vaclav becoming President of the Jovian Commonwealth in a close race against Vera Ilanov of the opposition.
