Symbiotic Relationships

Ghouls

Kelpies are a highly derived species of egg-laying mammal from an ancient familial lineage called Henoferids. Inhabiting Dante's Pit, they are used as steeds by the Ghouls.

Description

Kelpies lack both pigment and eyes, resulting in their appearance often coming off as disturbing and other-worldly. Kelpies have a long snout covered in sensory organs that they use to find their way around the caverns they live in. Kelpies also possess many short, conical teeth that they use to catch aquatic prey.

Ecology

Kelpies are usually relatively docile, which is what allowed the Ghouls to domesticate this. They are omnivorous, with their diet consisting primarily of fungi and aquatic creatures like invertebrates, fish, and amphibians.
