The Laramidian War of Liberation was a war fought between the Laramidian Maniraptorans, and the Achero Empire approximately 710-707 years before the K-pg extinction event. The war ended following the fall of Achero City; capital of the Achero Empire, and the execution of Achero Emperor Tian III. Following their defeat, the Acheroraptors fled Laramidia and fell into extinction.

Course of the War

Prelude

Leading up to the outbreak of war, oppression of native Laramidian Maniraptorans had noticeably worsened throughout the Achero Empire, leading to a rise in Laramidian Partisan activity within the Empire. The South Laramidian Alliance; (a military alliance consisting of the surviving Laramidian nations and clans in southern Laramidia), demanded that the Achero Empire immediately ceased it's harsh treatment of the Laramidian Maniraptorans within the empire, which the Achero Emperor denied. Several meetings were held between the Southern Alliance to discuss the Achero's response to their demands, and support in favour of invading the Empire began to rise. During these meetings however, a peaceful protest in the Achero capital turned into a violent massacre, shocking the Southern Alliance. Rustle Hesperon, leader of the Morrison Saurornitholestes Clan gave a fiery speech where he called for the nations to unite as one coalition and retake Laramidia. The speech was the final straw that convinced the leaders of the allied countries to do just that. The alliance had already been preparing for a war with the Achero Empire for years; a sentiment not shared with the Achero Empire.

First Stage of the War

The newly formed United Maniraptoran Coalition; or UMC, launched the invasion of the Achero Empire after weeks of preparation. The Acheroraptors were unprepared for a war this soon, allowing the UMC forces; led by Arch-Marshal Almas Formosus and his lieutenants Varira Veloci and Byron Umbra, to make significant gains in the first few weeks, catching three of the cities in the southern parts of the Achero Empire.

Second Stage of the War

Eventually the UMC's advance slowed down after the arrival of large amounts of Achero Imperial troops. The UMC, having temporarily stretched their supply lines thin were vulnerable when the Achero Army launched a counter-offensive. As a result, the UMC; despite defending hard, began being pushed back, suffering many casualties. Seeing this, Marshal Formosus ordered one of his main army groups to make a tactical retreat to Hell Creek. The UMC was able to reconnect with their supply lines, allowing them to set up a fortified defense on the Hell Creek ridge. Eventually Achero forces reached Hell Creek, and the Battle of Hell Creek ensued. The Achero suffered tremendous casualties due to their General; Eudrom Pampa, being outsmarted by Formosus, Veloci, and Umbra. The situation for the Achero worsened with their attempt to retreat back across the Moloch River, which ended in disaster when UMC ceratopsian cavalry forces drove a stampeding herd of Edmontosaurus right at them, resulting in many Achero soldiers dying due to trampling or being eaten by crocodiles while attempting to cross. Following the battle, Eudrom Pampa took his life out of shame. The Battle of Hell Creek marked a point in which the situation became unsalvageable for the Achero Empire.

Third Stage of the War

After the victory at Hell Creek, the UMC launched an all-out offensive against the increasingly desperate Achero forces. The UMC now had nearly unstoppable momentum as their armies drove northwards towards Achero City; the capital of the Achero Empire. The Achero Empire sent the UMC several requests for peace talks, all of which were ignored. Finally after three years, the UMC reached Achero City and surrounded it. The UMC launched an assault on the city, and despite being severely undersupplied, the Achero soldiers fought to the very end nonetheless. Following the fall of the city, Emperor Tian III was found an arrested before being given a ceremonial Raptoranist execution.

Aftermath

Following the fall of the Achero Empire, all surviving Acheroraptors were forced to take their chances fleeing back to Siberia or across the Western Interior Sea to Appalachia. They went extinct shortly after.

The UMC officially declared the creation of the United Triumvirate of Laramidia, spanning all of Laramidia. Rustle Hesperon was appointed as the first Magistrate-Director of the newly formed government.

Casualties

In total the war ended with an estimated 47,000,000 casualties. The Achero suffered significantly higher casualties with an estimated 28 million soldiers and civilians being killed. The UMC forces also suffered heavy casualties, with nearly half being reprisal attacks against civilians by Achero troops.
