Luminite
The Brightworlders, also called Luminites, are a sapient species of humanoid from the planet Lumin. They are covered in bioluminescent markings and patterns that they can flash and control the brightness and color of at will. They are descended from marine whale-like creatures that returned to land after a mass extinction several million years ago wiped out most terrestrial creatures.
History
Luminite society is still somewhat young, akin to 1950s era Earth. The first sapient Luminites appeared about 500,000 years ago along the coastal plains of the southern continents.

Appearance and Biology
Brightworlders are short, blue humanoids, possessing two arms used for manipulating objects and two legs used for locomotion. They have long thin tails, tipped with a light producing organ used to help the ancestral Brightworlders to capture prey, similar to the Deep-Sea Anglerfishes of Earth. Brightworlders possess similar organs at the ends of a pair of antennae on the top of the head.
Brightworlders are exclusively female, they reproduce asexually through parthenogenesis.
Brightworlders are a type of Luminarian 'Cetacean' similar to the Luminocetes, though they are a lineage that emerged back out of the water and onto land.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Brightworlder Physiology
- Light Energy Manipulation: Brightworlders are able to create and store light energy within their cells, which function almost like batteries. A Brightworlder can then use the energy she has stored to fire powerful beams from various points on her body, being the palms, fingertips, tips of the antennae and tip of the tail.
- Aquatic Physiology: Being descended from marine animals, Brightworlders are well-adapted to aquatic environments. This makes them adept swimmers. Able to reach speeds of up to 55 mph underwater. Brightworlders can also breath underwater for up to 4 days by extracting oxygen through their skin.
Weaknesses
- Dehydration: Brightworlders are especially prone to dehydration.
