Overview
Mace Sappho, also known as the "Immortal Red Dragon, " was a male Isariel who has made an immense and inescapable impact on the analogs of universal history. A fact exemplified by that it was his birth which marks the beginning of the End's Emergence; the Ambrosian calendar from then on, having been born on the planet of Wildroot in the year 1 EE (Ends Emergence).
During his lifetime, Mace Sappho served as the Havriel's sole weapon against the Sanlagosa Concordant. The Concordant, at that time, had launched a devastating Crusade aimed at the complete extermination of the Isariel species' last living remnants, mistakenly deceived into beliving was felt in the Havriel. Mace’s singular power and relentless defense were instrumental in stalling the Concordant’s genocidal campaign.
Beyond his martial exploits, Mace Sappho's legacy is defined through his lineage. He fathered the Seven Novum, an individual who would embody the universe’s greatest force of Light. Seven later formed what would be known as the "Great Dyad" the universe's most pivotal cosmic atlas of between himself, and his greatest friend and ally: Syx Corsage.
Syx Corsage , a figure of incalculable criticality in the histories , was ultimately saved from destruction by Mace himself due to his sacrifice in maintaining Neo-Eden's continuance, further binding their destinies to his legacy.
Ultimate Impact in the Galaxy
Despite his extraordinary efforts, Mace Sappho ultimately failed in his near solitary war against the Sanlagosa Concordant. Nevertheless, in 64 EE, he gave his life defending the Alliance System-State of Neo-Eden, a critical target of the Concordant’s ongoing campaign. Through this final act of sacrifice, Mace ensured the preservation of Neo-Eden, which would later emerge as the birthplace of Syx Corsage; the Penumbral Cause and destined heir of all Creation. By securing Neo-Eden’s survival, Mace indirectly set in motion the eventual downfall of the Concordant and the salvation of the wider universe.
Though he did not defeat the Concordant outright, Mace Sappho inflicted immeasurable damage upon the Sanlagosa. Over the course of the interspecies war, he personally accounted for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Sanlagosa and systematically crippled their military infrastructure for decades. His relentless campaigns forced the Concordant to divert immense resources and manpower to counter his operations, significantly weakening their control over the outer systems. Mace's strategy centered on brutal but highly effective tactics, including precision strikes on critical supply chains, shipyards, and command centers, severely disrupting the Concordant’s war machine and diminishing their capacity for sustained warfare.
While it cannot be stated with absolute certainty, it is widely held that without Mace Sappho’s efforts, Syx Corsage and the Seven Novum would not have been able to resist the forces of Absalon long enough to thwart his designs to end all life in Creation. The weakened state of the Concordant, a direct result of Mace’s relentless campaigns, prevented them from ever achieving the strength necessary to reinforce Absalon’s crusade, thereby altering the course of cosmic history.
Wrath of the Dragon
Likely Mace’s most tangible and devastating impacts on the galaxy was the complete eradication of all Sanlagosan life on the planet of Apollyon. This act of annihilation was carried out singlehandedly by Mace in 40 EE, committed as an act of unyielding vengeance against the Concordant for their prior destruction of his home world, Wildroot. The Sanlagosa had turned Wildroot into a barren wasteland, exterminating its inhabitants and erasing its once-vibrant ecosystems, his brother, Lance Celeste, counted amongst them. In response, Mace unleashed a calculated and merciless assault upon Apollyon, ensuring that no Sanlagosan presence would survive.
The "operation" , (if one could even call it that) , was committed against the people of Apollyon in a single motion; methodical and absolute in its brutality. Mace systematically targeted major population centers, military installations, and critical infrastructure, with his mere strength alone. His power absolutely overwhelmed the planet’s defenses and initiated a planetary purge that left Apollyon desolate, killing near two million Sanlagosa in moments, demonstrating a scale of destruction near unparalleled by any single combatant in recorded history. This event became one of the most infamous chapters of the galactic era, and one which would color near all events of the Concordant from then on.
A Man Divided
Mace Sappho was a man of two faces, one of a gallant hero, the other, a man interested in only his own pleasure and well-being. As such, it is not easy for one to hold Mace as an exemplar of heroism due to his acts of valor mainly being made out of guilt rather than any altruistic intent. Though despite that, one must admit that without him, many would have suffered all the faster, and the fate of Neo-Eden , and perhaps all of Creation , would have been sealed.
His motivations may have been self-serving, but the consequences of his actions were undeniably profound. Even if driven by guilt rather than virtue, Mace’s final stand against the Concordant was an act of undeniable courage. In the end, Mace Sappho may not have been a hero in the purest sense, but history would remember him as one nonetheless.
Personality
General Demeanor
Mace Sappho carried an atmosphere of searing volatility and barely-contained exhaustion. His demeanor was a reflection of a soul eroded by betrayal, war, and self-inflicted guilt. Though hailed publicly as a savior, his private reality was defined by simmering resentment, unprocessed trauma, and a ruthless indifference toward ceremonial pleasantries. Disdainful of pomp and sycophancy, he regarded most social courtiers and political figures as pathetic, superficial nuisances, treating them with visible contempt and sometimes outright hostility.
His interactions were frequently marked by impatience and a simmering volatility that could erupt into violence at a moment’s provocation. Despite his reputation for godlike might, Mace appeared almost allergic to adulation or attention, often recoiling from public praise or ceremonial grandstanding as if physically wounded by it. His body language, reactions, and self-isolation illustrated a man simultaneously exhausted by existence and yet incapable of stepping away from the wars he waged both within and without.
Despite his brutal tendencies, flashes of broken tenderness surfaced, particularly when confronted with innocents or reminders of the lives he had failed to save. Even then, those glimpses of humility were often mangled by the overwhelming weight of self-loathing, regret, and helplessness. His attempts at connection , especially with those who looked up to him or sought reassurance , were often clumsy, stilted, or aborted entirely, as if the act of accepting grace or forgiveness was foreign to him.
Mace's general presence was a walking contradiction: a man forged into a weapon who bore no pride in his victories; a savior who despised the pedestal he was placed upon; a leader haunted, hollowed, and deeply alone. The effect was unmistakable , wherever he went, the air seemed heavier, the space around him subtly warping with the gravity of a man too dangerous to approach and too broken to reach.
