The Manitauri are a sapient race of eight-limbed, centaur-like aliens native to the planet Falanji.

History

The Manitauri evolved from small burrowing creatures that, following a mass-extinction on their Homeworld migrated to the surface and evolved into a myriad of large megafaunal forms.

Manitauri are closely related to the ungulate-analogue grazers of Falanji. Their massive second set of arms, once used to excavate huge quantities of soil, evolved to pull down the branches of high vegetation.

the primitive Manitauri, evolved in the cold taiga regions of the world. This harsh environment forced these creatures to develop high intelligence to find the meager amount of vegetation they could eat.

Soon the primitive Manitauri also began feeding on high protein food sources like carrion and insects, this extra protein allowed their brains to get bigger.

Culture

Social Structure

Female’s are the dominant sex in Manitauri culture.

Manitauri dont wear clothing like Humans do, but will often decorate themselves with a variety of accessories such as bracelets, necklaces, piercings etc. Manitauri will also don large pieces of cloth that they are able to drape over themselves like a robe or hood, usually to protect themselves from the cold or simply because the individual is shy. However nobles and important figures are always seen in extravagent, decorated robes that resemble ballgowns.

Although the Manitauri live technological lives, they are not an industrial people. They still live amongst nature, with their towns and cities melding seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Many demographics lead tribal, nomadic and even elemental lives.

Religion

The Manitauri practice many religions across their planet. However the most popular and widespread is focused on the worship of their main moon, Simurgh

Appearance and Biology

The most dominant characteristic of a Manitauri’s physiology is their extremely enlarged secondary pair of arms. These are extremely strong but have little in the way of dexterity, which is what the primary, much smaller, pair of arms are used for

Sexual Dimorphism

Females are about 50% larger than males and have light brown coloration with mottled patterns on their body with cream-colored undersides.

Males have larger and more muscular arms. They are colored far more vibrantly with striped patterns running down their bodies, featuring red, orange and yellow.
