Marley Payne

Marley Payne, known better as Captain Payne, is a mutated Cuban False Chameleon and the patriarch of a gang of mutated reptiles known as the Payne Family, who operate out of Orca Point, Oregon.

Personality

Payne is usually quite jovial and even a bit silly towards his family, but that disposition can change in an instant when faced with an enemy, where he becomes an intimidating, cruel and cunning figure, even becoming a full blown psychopath. He totes himself a pirate captain, despite the fact that he cannot sail. Though he does steal a lot so I guess that makes up for it.

History

Marley was originally a normal False Chameleon, before being sold to GenoSys, to be made into a mutant super-soldier. Exposed to their modified Primordial Ooze, he was given a humanoid body and heightened Intelligence alongside camouflage capabilities and superhuman agility and reflexes. GenoSys scientists then proceeded to perform many painful and cruel experiments on him to test his abilities and intelligence, as well as to simply understand his biology. When not being subject to experiments or efficiency tests, Marley was kept in an underground cell with several other mutants, both successes and failures. It was during this time when Alan Creck had snuck into the facilities upper levels, and had exposed the blatant animal cruelty that was being performed, the next day GenoSys began to 'clean up' all their work. This meant destroying any mutations they had created.

During the clean up, another mutant, Salvatore Peroza managed to break him out of his cell, and Marley quickly escaped out into the city, in search of food and a safe place to live. while he was out, one of the places he holed up in was the Orca Point Theater, which was showing a play version of a popular pirate movie, a good chunk of which took place on Cuba. Marley recognized the word as part of his species name and so assumed that the piracy he saw on the stage was an accurate representation of his homeland. He quickly adopted the persona of a pirate captain, taking a hat for himself and practicing his swordsmanship, which he quickly mastered. Soon he stole a real sword to help with his search for food, during these foraging trips he came across other mutants whom he offered positions on his 'crew'

During a fight with Sal and his family Captain Payne killed Phelma by impaling her through the chest. He also amputated Allison Mendoza's arm, revealing her own regeneration abilities.

Powers

Superhuman Agility - Captain Payne has enhanced perception, reflexes and agility, allowing him to
Camoflage - Marley has chromatophores in his skin and is even able to change it's texture, making him able to disappear almost entirely.
Bite Strength - A natural ability of his that has been enhanced, Marley's large head and blunt teeth make his bite like a hydraulic press,

Abilities

Swordsmanship - Captain Payne is an extremely skilled swordsman, being able to go toe to toe with opponents wielding much more advanced weaponry with ease. He is fond of finishing foes off by plunging his bayonette deep into their chests.

Weaknesses

Cockiness - He is so sure of his own abilities that he tends to underestimate unfamiliar opponents leading to his downfall
Alcoholism - He is a chronic alcoholic, often drinking until he is blackout drunk, which often puts him into unfavorable situations
