Overview

Mind Uploading is the broad term for the copying and emulation of biological conciousness in a digital medium. Developed in the Early 22nd century, Mind Uploading (Or rather copying) was created to allow for effective immortality for individuals who could afford it.

Mind Uploading is postulated to not truly be the person who has been uploaded but rather a copy who thinks that they are that person, this has been the point of contention among the scientific community and is still actively being investigated to this day.

The product of Mind Uploading was originally called Artificial Intelligence, however a distinction was made when the mind itself was not created artificially, but naturally. The term "Digital Intelligence" or "Emulated Intelligence" was later coined as a granulisation.

Types of "Digital Intelligence"

Standard DI

"Standard" DI are the most common uploadees, they do not fall under the UHR but are treated as if they were. Standard DI tend to be those who sought an extension on life and consist of a relitavely unmodified human mind, usually uploaded before the person's death.

Transhuman DI

"Transhuman" DI are rarer compared to those who are unmodified, usually created when SDI "escape" or "enlighten" themselves on the wider intersolar internet. These Transhumans are illusive and not counted under the UHR and are speculated to be closer to true artificial intelligence rather than Digital Intelligence.

Templated DI

"Templated" DI are flattened human personalities taken from volunteers use for the development of advanced AI. Templates are alleged to create more stable and easily alignable AI compared to AI created from scratch. Templates are usually a point of contention legally and arent protected under the UHR.
