Overview

Mystara is a legendary female Rufescent-Noctis-Umbra and the sole bearer of the title "Irredeemable," an epithet denoting Creation's only being forged from the pure concepts of evil and Darkness. She was Intended to serve as the Herald of the Great Unifier, the progenitor of Conflict and Contradiction. As a result, Mystara is among the most pivotal figures in universal history, and is often considered the singular most critical entity in terms of narrative necessity. Her actions have directly catalyzed the greatest moments of change within Ambrosia, and she once held dominion over the Galaxy.

To achieve these extraordinary feats, Mystara was bestowed with the mythical "End in Sight," a title given to those who have achieved the ability to see the Line to the End, the ultimate inherency in the universe. This manifests as the visage of Imagindarium itself upon her eye, symbolizing the gift of true vision and, consequently, absolute knowledge.

Beyond Redemption

Mystara was, is, and will forever be beyond redemption. She embodies pure vileness, venom, wretchedness, pain, devastation, and damnation. Her evil has been permanently etched into the fabric of reality for all time. Regardless of the form the universe takes, the lingering Darkness of the Herald of Unity remains ever-present upon the Cosmos.

Through the Line to the End, Mystara believed that all of reality existed solely for her. She viewed the universe as a personal experiment ground, considering living beings mere resources to be taken for any purpose she desired. Yet she was plagued by discontentment, frustrated by the limitations imposed by the universe. Mystara longed to be all things at all times; every race, every world, every gender, every individual; both the living and the dead, both the Divine and the Finite.

In her revelation; Mystara foresaw that, at time’s end, she would become the sole entity in existence, following her destined slaying of the "Pure of Heart" and maxim of Light: Seven Novum. Her mind was singularly driven by the desire to bring about this ultimate confrontation. To enable this, she was endowed with immense intelligence and knowledge, but at the cost of all compassion, care, and morality. This purging ensured the eternal struggle between good and evil, the force which dictated the greatest changes within the universe, would be made manifest. Where great forces of good arose, an even greater force of evil would be there to challenge them, and vice versa.

Tyranny and Atrocities

Mystara fulfilled her role in the Line to the End with unwavering precision, committing innumerable atrocities. She killed her own mother, Nemesis, using her heart to power a superweapon, and later slew her matriarch, the Typhonian Gellel, to seize control of the Noctis-Umbra for herself. Upon her arrival in Ambrosia, she spread her malevolence across the stars, creating mechanical horrors to ravage the universe.

During her battle with her then rival, Gladio-Mankano, Mystara was confronted with the truth of her existence, but ultimately refused to accept that a force beyond her guided her actions. Enraged, she tormented Gladio-Mankano, forcing him to witness the destruction of all he loved and created, before sealing him within an eternal prison of repeated, self-contained misery. Ultimately, Mystara joined the virgin Etymology, not out of a desire for cooperation, but to avoid her own destruction and to eventually eliminate her rivals in her pursuit of universal domination.

Curse of Creation

Mystara’s creations bordered on the level of godhood, and she herself ascended to god-like power, capable of creating worlds, races, and empires at will. Yet she remained perpetually unsatisfied. The occurrence of events in the universe without her direct intervention drove her to madness, whether it was a grain of sand moved by the wind or the fall of an intragalactic empire. Any autonomous choice made by a sapient being that she had not determined incited her fury. Her greatest frustration stemmed from the fact that she shared power with the other Ten Supreme Authorities of the Etymology.

Mystara could only be content if she merged all of existence into herself — every individual, world, race, particle, and atom. As long as even a single force, object, or energy existed independent of her, she could never achieve satisfaction. In her mind, there could only be one: she needed to be everything that is, ever was, or ever will be.

Mystara created entire species and empires, discarding them without remorse once their purpose was fulfilled or if they posed a threat. Among her most infamous creations was the Oblivione; a mechanical curse that condemned its victims to eternal life, tethering their souls to hollow husks of bodies. This cruel fate forever barred them from joining Libation’s Great Collective. Mystara believed that no soul deserved to pass into the afterlife without her permission, and that defiance warranted eternal subjugation, even beyond death.

When her husband, Shedrevin, turned away from her, repelled by her descent into darkness, she confronted him in a battle of devastating magnitude. Ultimately, she killed him and inflicted a fate worse than death — trapping his mind in an endless loop of misery and subservience as her "Silhouette Guardian." To Mystara, this act served not only as retribution, but as the rightful punishment for what she perceived as the greatest betrayal ever committed against her.

Great God Legion

Mystara eventually discovered that good and evil were measurable aspects of reality, dictating all events in the universe. She fully acknowledged her existence on the darker side of that balance. With this revelation, she began to manipulate both forces to bring about maximum change within existence. However, as a being of pure darkness, all of her "good" deeds served as hidden means to commit greater evils. She would, for example, offer salvation to the downtrodden masses, only to set their children ablaze and annihilate them.

Her persistent tampering with light and darkness attracted the attention of the ambivalent Sentient Power, the Golden Sovereign, who bestowed upon her the "Mantle of Change." Mystara, however, held no reverence for this gift, resenting that yet another force existed in a state beyond her.

Her greatest triumph came with the revelation of the Great Unifier's existence, which revealed that it had guided her throughout her life. The Great Unifier informed Mystara that the Ultimate End; the very purpose of the universe’s creation, depended more upon her than nearly any other being. It told her that the pivotal moment had arrived, and she would construct the avatar of unity: Under the Great Unifier’s guidance, Mystara birthed her most powerful creation, the God Legion (CYREX).

She was fully aware of the AI’s future rebellion and the near-total destruction it would unleash, deliberately setting these events into motion. After the Red Galaxy Event and the extinction of nearly all life, Mystara departed Ambrosia for the Realm of Thavma, wherein she crafted a realm known as Mysterium to observe and await her role in the End.

From the confines of Mysterium, Mystara manipulated the surrounding realms of Thavma, particularly the Mavimyst and its plane of Haven. Seated upon her shadow throne, she was once again contacted by the Great Unifier. It revealed that it would initiate an Amaranth Contravene to birth an Heir who would be whispered her name, bearing the name "Mystara" as they awaited their destined role. This One True Heir would carry the Amaranth Contravene that would awaken the slumbering God Legion, and set in motion the Great Unifier’s final battle with the Destined Two, bringing about the Ultimate End.
