The Nandi Bear is a rare species of Giant Hyena that resembles a large bear. They are native to East Africa where they are solitary hunters and scavengers.

Conservation
This species is incredibly rare and critically endangered, with no more than a 150 still living in the wild, mostly in Kenya and Tanzania. Nandi Bears are feared by many local people and hated by many farmers, as their opportunistic behaviors often lead them to kill livestock.
Many Nandi Bear sightings are of Ratels, Spotted Hyenas and Giant Baboons, often leading conservationists on wild goose chase, complicating efforts to locate them and protect their habitats
