Summery:
The New Dominion (the ND) is a coalition of parahuman species that started in the galaxy M82 who believe that humanity is the true dominant species of the universe and seek to spread their dominion across the stars. They are ruled by a species called the Norg who originate from the Planet Maroona in the M82 galaxy (The Cigar Galaxy)
origin:
The ancient Vaalbarans did start colonizing the Galaxy M82 during the end of their reign but were only able to colonize a few worlds in that galaxy. One of those worlds was called Maroona a planet on the edge of the M82 Galaxy, they put homo laureniensis on this planet as they usually do and set up their operation, this was only a few hundred years before the Vaalbarans empire crumbled under the threat of the Colonials however.
However ancient Vaalbaran society was able to hold on for a while longer in M82 than it did in M81 however they were only able to do this by being even more ruthless to their slave species and the environments they colonized.
This angered the Spirit of Maroona who was already unhappy with the modification of the planet by the Vaalbarans to begin with, Maroona used to be a lifeless world and it did not want life to evolve on it as the planet had a masculine soul unlike planets who birth life which have feminine souls.
So the Spirit of Maroona allied with the Laurasian slaves to overthrow the Vaalbarans using a mixture of natural disasters and laurasian subterfuge, afterwards the spirit of Maroona allowed the humans and other organisms to continue living on the planet as it wasnt really their fault and he thought they didn’t deserve to die.
Over time these parahumans evolved into a species called the Norg due to the ecological niche they developed also due to the nature of the spirit of their planet.
The Norg males were giant standing 3 meters tall and were as strong and as muscular as gorillas, while the females were much smaller and resembled normal human females. The Norg evolved this way due to the fact that they had become primarily herbivores and the males needed to defend the tribe from aggressive predators that had also evolved due to the spirit of the planet.
The Norg were very warlike but their civilization unified under the worship of Taur which was what they called the spirit of Maroona.
Their society slowly developed into a technological level comparable to 20th century Earth, however they had never moved past feudalism and they lived under a monarchy that was chosen by Taur himself. This system of divine monarchy is what kept the society united for so long and allowed them to develop into a fairly technologically advanced civilization.
Then they found the ruins of Vaalbaran civilization buried under the ground and in the ruins they found advanced technology that the Norg were able to reverse engineer to quickly advance to the space age, only after 200 years of the discovery of this ancient technology the Norg were able to leave their home star system and advance to the rest of their galaxy.
Under the command of their God Taur they decided they would be the new rulers after the fall of the Vaalbarans and they called their empire The New Dominion.
Due to having a tech base made up of both their own developed technology and the reverse engineered technology of the Vaalbarans they had a mix of both more advanced and more primitive technology.
They soon found many other species in their own Galaxy, mostly species that had evolved from the organisms deposited on planets by the Vaalbarans and their treatment by the New Dominion depended on how ready they were to comply with the Norg’s orders.
One such species known as the Krill had evolved from Mantis shrimp and they were quite willing to join the New Dominion and because they were such an early addition to the Dominion and because they willingly joined and contributed technology and arms they were treated quite well and became honored soldiers of Taur. they also provided these non-sapient giant crab species that were very good for combat as they could withstand alot of weapon fire.
When the New Dominion encountered parahuman species though they were treated very well as they were relatives of the Norg and were seen as divinely inspired, so they were given a rank just under the Norg but they were expected to abandon their culture and adopt the culture of the Norg which included the worship of Taur, serving the king and a whole range of changes to any pre-existing culture they had.
When the Dominion encountered a truly alien species however they were seen as an abomination and the Dominion would declare war on them and then they would try to exterminate the aliens.
Eventually they managed to conquer the vast majority of their galaxy and then they moved on to our galaxy (M81) and started an invasion from the west side and they have now claimed territory in the galactic west.
How they treat other species:
They have 3 classifications for other species that decides how they are treated:
Human: any species in the homo genus, they are assimilated into the empire by force but are treated with respect and are indoctrinated into the philosophy of the New Dominion
Mutant: this is what the New Dominion calls any sapient species that evolved from Earth life but are not in the homo genus, they are enslaved and their treatment depends on how well they cooperate with the demands of the New Dominion
Xeno/Alien: species that are not related to Earth life at all, these species are exterminated by the New Dominion
Norg Biology:
-The Norg have extreme sexual dimorphism comparable to that of elephant seals, while their males are 3 meters tall and are as strong as gorillas the females are much smaller and resemble homo sapien females
-The Norg are primarily herbivores but do eat meat occasionally
-The Norg males are extremely aggressive but the females are skittish and shy
-in their natural tribal state 1 or 2 Norg males will control a herd of around 10-20 females who all mate with the 1-2 Norg males, however males and females have an equal chance of being born it's just that most males go rogue and never have a herd, this however has changed in their civilized state where there is enforced monogamy and there are almost never any rogue males
-all of the Norg have pale skin, blond/brown hair and blue/green eyes
-a Norg is capable of living for 200 years
Society:
New Dominion society is very militant and fascistic and will not tolerate other cultures, they spread their influence by the sword/gun and they plunder and pillage anyone who will not bend the knee to them.
New Dominion society is also very misogynistic, the females are subservient to the males and are treated more like pets than equals, this is based on the Norg sexual dichotomy and is enforced on any new species that join the empire. Females are also not allowed to have an education and are not allowed to leave the house without being escorted by a male.
All males are expected to fight for the empire when they are called upon and military drafts are commonplace.
All species in the empire are expected to worship the god Taur and not being part of the religion is punishable by death. Everyone in the empire is expected to pray to Taur at least 2x a day and go to church once every 5 days.
Taur chooses a new king for the empire very 1000 years and the king is enhanced through cybernetics to extend their life and enhance both their physical and cognitive ability
The New Dominion has a somewhat roman/mesapotanian aesthetic
If a soldier dies in battle their wife is sent to a woman’s shelter where she will live until a new male selects her to become his concubine, this is the only way males can own more than 1 female in current dominion society
Technology:
The technology of the New Dominion is an amalgamation of all the technology they came into possession of during their expansion and conquering of other species as well as the technology the Norg came up with after they studied ancient Vaalbaran technology.
FTL: The New Dominion uses transwarp due to them having access to Vaalbaran technology and they have not attempted to create their own conventional warp drive as they have had no need of one
Weapons: The weapons of the New Dominion consist of projectile weapons for ground soldiers mostly consisting of coil guns and rail guns, while their warships use positron based particle beam weapons as well as nuclear explosive devices, energy swords are also used by members of the military with high rank
Ships and vehicles: their ships and vehicles have blocky designs covered in armor and armed from all sides, they also have plasma-based shielding
Armor: all of the soldiers of the dominion wear armored suits that are capable of absorbing alot of disruptor fire and deflecting projectiles
Alloy: they have a metal called Tanderium which is as hard as diamond and as durable as titanium, its a metal that only occurs in the M82 Galaxy, all their armor, ships and weapons are made from this metal
