Description
Occalians are a sapient species of reptile-like organisms, with an approximate height of 1.2 meters. Occalians are most often known for their gritty and desperate lifestyle on their climate-torn homeworld of Occalia.
As a result of their need for water, many nations and factions have been founded over the years. Most of them have resided on the two significant bodies of water, which have been slowly drained over the millennia. Even with these drawbacks, significant nations of Occalia have allied, and are improving on local space travel. These nations view comet mining and synthetic water creation to be the key to the future. Many Occalians are determined to press through to the future, as shown by the heightened amount of primitive rocket launches.
The Occalians currently know nothing about the outside universe, likely thinking that their home galaxy, Aolunsk Galaxy, as an empty area. This emptiness has also caused them to think about various Fermi Paradoxes, with many Occalians viewing space travel as pointless.
Over the recent years of Occalian history, many controversies have appeared about heightened water shortages and the inevitable extinction of the Occalian race. This hardship has made life on the Occalian internet rather hostile, as most sectors appear to be grim and fear-inducing.
Population Crisis
Even though there is more than enough land for any Occalians, sheer water shortages have made it impossible. Most Occalians a year die from water shortages, except for the top nation-states on Occalia. The bottom nations have faced significant troubles with the water and population crisis, which has made them very much weak. These nations contain approximately 60% of the entire Occalian population, making matters worse.
Wars
With their strict lifestyle, many Occalians have been hardened by the prospect of endless war. In recent decades, most have had at least one notable war actively happening. Most of these wars were over water, while others were over acts of terrorism and other resources.
The act of war has made sheltering-in-place very commonplace for Occalians. The prospect of war is taught at a very young age, ingraining fear into the minds of the Occalian people. This fear, on its own, has made potential contact with them very difficult.
