General Development

Oratorio is the youngest star in Cosmoria. A brown dwarf until just 30,000 years ago, its ignition would have been witnessed by Un'oit pastoralists passing through the system. Although its ignition was not particularly interesting, its increase in temperatures thawed its planets, melting their ices and making way for life, not if that life is made of water, however. Seas of pentane cover its second-innermost world. Despite an orbit lasting only weeks, Capriccio became the most habitable world for the Un'oit. The thawing world became a permanent settlement for them 20,000 years before the present day. Before then, they wandered Oratorio's accretion disk, gathering whatever volatiles they could.

The Un'oit were not content to stay on one planet, however. They spread from Capriccio to the myriad frozen worlds orbiting Nocturne, the black hole Oratorio orbits quite closely. Oratorio became one of the wealthiest systems in Cosmoria with the founding of the Euphony Civilization and the first and second Un'oit ascensions. It took advantage of recent economic issues to conquer all of Nocturne and even some of Aylathiya and Florathel. The residual wealth from Euphonic galactic-scale pillaging was a base for the industrialization of Oratorio. Despite its small population, Oratorio's economy had the key advantage of never getting plundered or leveled by Euphonic armies. Today, the star remains quite wealthy and is the center of the Collegium Aurem.
