Owka, its two moons and dynamic ring system as seen from space.

Owka (RS 8409-1353-8-10870226-174 5 in 0.9.7.4 beta patch 5) is a temperate O-Class planet. It is found near the Orion constellation and within an area surrounded by nebulae, including Barnard's Loop.

Overview

The planet is the homeworld of the Oyeks, a 25,000 year old Type II civilization. Their civilization was discovered by Humanity in 5033.

Surrounded by a dense and dynamic ring system of dust particles, the rings keep certain parts of the planet in darkness, allowing creatures at the sea bed to rise further up and hunt the creatures closer to sea level. Due to this dense ring system, meteor showers are far more common. Up to 6 million meteors can be seen every hour. Every day, a meteor or two can be seen during the day.

Climate

The ring system can faintly be seen from other places on the planet. Notice the turquoise water.

The climate on Owka is cold, with an average temperature of -16.2 celsius, and calm. The weather is very calm with average wind speeds of 5 mph. Hurricanes have wind speeds reaching 120 mph, rarely reaching 200 mph. Anything caught within the hurricane is thrown at tremendous speeds, sometimes throwing them closer to space.

Under neath the ocean, at the sea bed, is a much more geologically active place. Thousands of small cryovolcanoes create a fog of ammonia. This has been occuring for the last 6 billion years and shows no signs of ceasing.

Culture

The Oyeks are not very religious but almost 6,000 years ago, the entire population was religious. Due to the amount meteorites that Oyeks see a day, many believe these are signs from their goddess: Naika. Known as the Goddess of Peace, her believers always thought that she was sending signs to them, in the form of meterorites.
