Primordial Ooze also known as 'The Goop' is a strange mutagenic mucilaginous, orange colored, glowing semi-organic substance of unknown origin. Any creature that is exposed to the Ooze will be affected in a myriad of ways, from growing in size and intellectual capacity, merging with inorganic materials such as metal, or gaining superpowers such as telepathy or telekinesis. It is responsible for the mutation of Zephyr Gravemasker and the DinoForce, Rolf Maxwell and the DinoSquad, as well as many other creatures.
History
Zet Langston theorized the the Ooze may be the remnants of a massive Precambrian Superorganism and was potentially the catalyst that caused the Cambrian Explosion.
The Ooze was known by the population of 66 million years ago, with Zet and Theira Langston working at the Laramidian Science Institute to decipher how the substance worked and what it was.
After the Chixulub Impact, all the ooze that was held at the facility escaped and some came in contact with Victor Veloci, Joan Moynihan, Zet, Theira, Penny and Antonio Umbra, just before they were cryogenically preserved. This allowed them to assume human form after they immediately ate an amateur paleontologist who set them free.
Over the past 65 million years the ooze had plenty of time to spread across the globe. in the modern age some notable mutations include Spring-heeled Jack, the Mothman and Baikal Amalgam.
The Progenitors had discovered the ooze early on in their history and for most of it, the stuff was just another of the many dangers they had to deal with in their Pleistocene world.
But in the later days, after the species had become incredibly advanced. They began to use the ooze to modify humans to fight within their coliseum. They gave a few of them the ability to change their form into that of monstrous dinosaurs. And since this trait was genetic it could be passed down to their children. Though the gene would remain dormant unless reactivated by some outside influence.
The ooze and it's mutagenic properties were later discovered by GenoSys Labs and the scientists there began conceptualizing Project S.C.A.L.E,
Effects
Mutation
When exposed to an organism the ooze will latch on and enter the host’s however it can. Once inside it will alter the hosts DNA to transform it into a more powerful version of itself. Often incorporating DNA from other creatures the host has interacted with to fuse into the genome. The effects of the mutation are irreversible but can be slowed down and downplayed if the subject is exposed to extreme temperatures, and exposed to certain chemical compounds.
Wounds
During mutation, the subjected creature will heal from any matter of injuries. Best demonstrated by Sarah Maxwell who was able to recover from an indefinite comatose state when exposed.
Intellect Gain
The exposure to the Ooze causes is to develop a human level intellect.
