Rigel
Overview
Rigel (Not to be confused with the star system with the same name) is a wolf-rayet star. It is currently of spectral class WC, and it is still shrinking and slowly morphing into WO. At the time of its discovery by Humanity, it was a blue supergiant, but it has since evolved, shrank, and lost mass.
Properties
Rigel is currently about 284,000 times more luminous than the Sun (Sol), but is only around 2.45297 times larger than the Sun. Its temperature is very high, at 85211.038 Kelvin, and increasing. As a result of the evolving, it has shed around 3 solar masses since the time of its discovery, and as a result of the shrinking, its rotational period has been sped up to only 4.6 hours, giving it an oblate shape. And because of the mass loss, its companion stars' orbits have become more eccentric.
Energy output
There is an incomplete dyson sphere around Rigel. It harvests most of the energy found within 20 lightyears of the star.
