Rolf Maxwell

After being exposed to Primordial Ooze while on a field trip to the tide pools near his hometown of Orca Point, Oregon, Rolf ‘Max’ Maxwell was transformed from his school’s star athlete into a mutant Tyrannosaurus rex.

Luckily after some training he learned how to regain human form for extended periods of time. And now with the help of his mysterious science teacher Joan Moynihan he leads a group of his four classmates, called the DinoSquad against Victor Veloci’s DinoSquad and other so-called villains across the city. Unaware that things are not as black-and-white as they appear.

The de-facto leader of his team, due to his experience with working with a group, Max is a bit stubborn but he has strong morals, a sense of justice and a powerful will, that lets him keep on fighting his enemies and to protect his town and it’s people.

Personality

Max is a bit of a himbo. Being an attractive, muscular teen, as well as a popular sports star, he’s never had to worry about grades or knowing a lot of facts.

However despite his lack of book-smarts, Max has impressive street-smarts and he knows every good hangout spot in Orca Point like the back of his hand.

His experience with being the captain of his school’s football team has given him lots of experience in leading a team.

History

Early Life

Max was born in Orca Point, Oregon. He was raised by his parents with younger sister Sarah, all in all it was a normal and healthy childhood.

At age 6, he met Ben Blacksnake, a boy who moved in next door. The two quickly bonded over a shared interest in sports, especially football.

The two boys became best friends until on an unusually warm winter day when he was 10.

While Max and Ben were playing in the snow and making forts. Sarah went out to play on a frozen pond in the attempt to practice her ice skating skills.

But due to the higher temperatures, the ice was thin and Sarah fell through, plunging her into the icy water where she hit her head on submerged debris

He stayed to try and save his sister while Ben ran off to get help from adults.

Despite his best efforts he couldn’t save her alone, nearly drowning in the ice cold pond in the process, and it wasn’t until Ben arrived with some neighborhood adults that Sarah was able to be removed from the ice,

Later at the hospital, the unfortunate news came that his sister was in a coma and it would be unlikely she’d ever wake up.

He blamed Max for the incident, confident that if he had stayed to help him Sarah would be awake, and in a single evening Max and Ben changed from best friends into bitter enemies.

Mutation

While at the Orca Point Tidepools for a school fieldtrip, Max, along with his group members were unknowingly exposed to Primordial Ooze by his science teacher Joan Moynihan.

That night he began to mutate, which obviously caused him to freak out a little. The next morning he was called into Moynihan’s class with his former groupmates.

There she told him about how she was really a Dakotaraptor and told him that he must have swam through the ooze rather than the truth, that she was the one who had exposed him, having deemed him a good fit for the abilities the ooze would grant him.

She also made sure to inform Max about Victor Veloci, telling him that the other Raptor was a dangerous sociopath bent on exterminating humanity.

With the information that he has been given, Max and his friends form a team, calling themselves the DinoSquad, unaware that Victor’s own team of mutant teens also elected to name themselves the same thing. (causing them to later re-name the team the DinoForce)

And he vows to stop Victor and his company DeinonyCorps’ plans. But currently stuck in her new dinosaur form she first had to learn how to return to her human form

Fighting against the DinoForce

Max’s first mission as a member of the DinoSquad lead him to Feresa Park, to capture a mutant Giant Pacific Salamander. He and his team were able to locate the mutant quickly and soon initiated a fight with the mutant amphibian.

However he was intercepted by Laura Correia in Anhanguera form.

He soon finds out that among Victor’s team, in Ben Blacksnake, now a mutant Edmontosaurus. And his hatred for his former friend and his instincts reacting to seeing their favorite prey sparks him to fighting him rather than the salamander.

Unfortunately Ben and his teammates are far better than Max and the DinoSquad and they are quickly beaten into submission. But as they retreat, Max thinks up a clever plan to get back at his enemies.

Back at the lighthouse he convinces Moynihan that if they can’t beat Ben as dinosaurs they can do it as humans by getting them in trouble for fighting. Using their minor injuries and Moynihan’s allegedly impartial testimony, they are successfully able to get the team nearly expelled, but Max suggests that they have mandatory detention, so he and Moynihan can keep an eye on them.

After the report Max became even more popular as students sided with him as the victims of the fight. Something he very much enjoyed,

At the Aster

During his fight against Axton Britt (The Trilobite) in downtown Orca Point, his jaw was broken, leaving him unable to return to human form until it healed. After a week of being stuck in his Tyrannosaur form, his dinosaur instincts started to become stronger, causing him to lash out against his team.

This combined with his need for several hundred pounds of meat per day and desire to hunt, caused his team to contact Aidan Briggs to have him shipped off to the his dinosaur preserve located on the West Florida Keys until he could find properly heal and come to his senses

But tragedy struck when poachers under the employ of Cipher Ambrose arrived on the island abducted Max along with several other dinosaurs in order to sell them at an underground black market.

Max was soon purchased by the oil tycoon, Sidney Kinner, and shipped off to his secret biodome, the Aster.

Now enrolled in Sidney’s gladiatorial matches, Max was forced to battle against dinosaurs, mutants and cryptids alike.

Though, with his enhanced strength and human intelligence, he quickly became the top dog in the arena.

Ben Blacksnake - Rolf hates Ben with a visceral passion, blaming him for the comatose state of his sister Sarah, who fell into an iced over pond while they were young. And while Max desperately tried fishing her out, Ben ran to get help. By the time that he was able to return and the adults to fish her out it was too late, Sarah was left permanently comatose
