The smoke and the fire and the speed, the action and the sound, and everything that goes together, the steam engine is the most beautiful machine that we ever made, there's just nothing like it.
The history of the engine
In the early 1830s Forbes and Regan Hoot from the S.M.T.O.D. noticed that 0-6-0 tender engines were pretty efficient and small which ultimately made them better at shunting their own trains, they could go around tight turns and fit in small spaces. For example; harbours, shunting yards, military bases, etc. So they decided to make one of their own.
They started with making the wheelbase which was the easiest part and then worked their way up to the harder parts like the complicated boiler design they had in mind. Because usual S.M.T.O.D trains had something special they wanted to follow along with that and that's why they decided to make a high pressure boiler that would give the engine more power ultimately making it better at pulling, pushing, banking and shunting trains. And just like that they started work on their new SG. Fowler.
After 2 weeks of building the first prototype rolled out of the workshops. They did a few needed tests for new engines, and found out that the enigine could not only carry up to 200 tons of cargo, it also had a max speed of 80 mph. Knowing this they sent out the news of the new engine. Soon they started getting letters of bases and railways wanting to get one or more of the brand new engine. The engines started flooding out of the workshop. Because the steam locomotive was still pretty new this was a huge milestone in the history of the Sonarian railway system.
In use
There are still engines in use to this day. These however you can't take pictures with because they are located in militairy bases. The engines that are currently in use are listed down below.
