The Soviet Anomaly Research and Containment Coalition; or SARCC, is the state anomaly research and defense bureau in the Soviet Union. It was officially created in early 1946 as the official succeeding organization to the Red Army Anomaly Corps.
History
The SARCC was founded in April 1946 as a separate entity from the Red Army by Soviet Leader Mikhail Tukhachevsky, and Pavel Batov, who was appointed as the first director of the SARCC. In 1971, a team of Soviet Scientists were running an experiment with a particle accelerator, and inadvertently opened up a Temporal Tear, which caused an Ichthyovenator to end up killing all the scientists. The accelerator was later discovered and stolen by Thaddeus Greene. KGB agents later recovered footage of the incident and showed it to the SARCC.
The SARCC attempted to re-create the process, and ended up opening a rift that led them 35 million years in the future. The Soviets ended up encountering a species of sapient monitor lizard known as the Varanids. Naturally warlike, the Varanids attacked the SARCC operatives, forcing them to retreat. The operatives were not able to close the rift before they were overran by Varanids, who began an invasion of the Holocene.
Northwestern Shadow War
For the next ten years, the SARCC, along with M.Y.T.H.O.S. and the RCAAA secretly battled the Varanids in the arctic until the lizard people were eventually persuaded to return to the Neocene.
