The Sausage Jackal (Pinguissaurus farciminioides) is a bizarre and comical species of dwarf Abelisaurid endemic to the Shackleton Isles in Antarctica.
History
Sausage Jackals are descended from South Polar Paleocene Abelisaurs that were able to island hop or be rafted by debris onto the Shackleton Isles before the Antarctic Continent froze over in the Miocene.
Discovery
Sausage Jackals were one of the first animals encountered by explorers when they set foot on the islands, and immediately viewed the humans as food. charging towards them until it was shot and retreated into the islands rainforests.
Ecology
Sausage Jackals are one of the primary predators in the Shackleton Isles' Temperate Rainforests and Prairies. They will go after any animal they see, chasing their prey until it escapes or is caught. When caught the Sausage Jackal will use it's powerful jaws to snap the neck or spine before swallowing it whole.
