The Nine Lights Beckon Ye...
This content is a part of Axocora.

Overview

Axocora is a Scope created and owned by SunlitSmoothie. You can inquire about this Scope by contacting them on the the website, or on discord, where they are @sunlitsmoothie. Axocora is an infinite set of ususally-infinite dimensions, defined along a macrocosmic spectrum and elementally governed by the Nine Lights.

The inhabitants of Axocora are a peculiar species known as the Toxelugh, native to the dimension of the Evervoid. The vast majority of the Scope's content will take place within the Evervoid, and all of it will focus on the Toxelugh themselves and their civilization.

How To Collaborate

Axocora is closed for collaboration currently, as it still needs the fundamental articles about it written. Please check back soon (probably by March of 2025) to see if this has changed. It is intended to be a collaborative Scope once the groundwork is laid out!

Axocora follows a very fantastical and simple worldbuilding structure, intended to be easily accessible for low-stakes stories. Though an infinite number of infinities is contained in the Scope itself, the scale of the parts written about is amongst the smallest of all Scopes, with total populations of characters not breaching more than a couple hundred thousand, and the total square mileage of their civilization barely crossing 4000 square miles.

Setting

Axocora's rules mostly pertain to the setting and the scale therein. The Great Beast Archipelago in the dimension Evervoid is the primary setting, made up of its nine islands that in total are roughly equal in size to the big island of Hawaii. The outer regions of the Evervoid beyond this are uninhabited due to the presence of dangerous darkshine trees. Other dimensions have been briefly visited, with the only one ever being inhabited and colonized being the Stardawn.

The information on the islands of the Archipelago itself will be detailed in the Great Beast Archipelago article. Until 600 years ago, it was one contiguous island. Take this context into account when writing about events not set in the present day.

Inhabitants

While other dimensions can theoretically have other intelligent species, and there are some vague concepts for a Stardawn-native species, the inhabitants for the pusposes of writing are limited exclusively to the Toxelugh. Extradimensional life is permitted so long as it is part of a non-sapient biosphere.

Furthermore, the biology and society of the Toxelugh is to be understood before attempting to iterate on or deviate from it. Questions can and should be directed to Smoothie.

Side note from Smoothie: If you want to make characters but don't know how to get started or are worried you won't be able to do so properly, you can just ask me for one. I love these little axolotl freaks and will stop at nothing to make more of them.

Magic

"Magic" refers to the psychic linkages between a Toxelugh and one of the Nine Lights, and the abilities therefore granted. The limitations of this power system are to be respected, with core tenets being:

  • The Toxelugh have only these Nine Attunements. The long-term chaos required to access more has not been achieved.
  • The Nine Lights are infinite, the channeling capabilities of the Toxelugh are not.
  • Each Toxelugh may only be Attuned to one of the Nine Lights, and cannot change this Attunement once it has been established.
  • No Toxelugh can access their telepathic links once Attuned. All unattuned Toxelugh can access telepathic linkages.
  • What the Nine Lights represent is determined and distorted by dimension. Establish and then obey the Ninefold Array of any other dimensions you wish to write in.

Technology

The Great Beast Archipelago, the only civilization thus known to exist in the Scope, has had a sapient population for 7,000 years. They have had agriculture for about 5,000 years, and are at a technological level similar to the Iron Age of Earth.

1,000 years ago is when the First Light was first reached via Attunement, followed by the Primary Diremptions 150 years later, and the Secondary Diremptions 200 years after that. That is to say, the Nine Lights have all been accessible for the last 650 years.

Interaction With Other Scopes

Axocora does not interact with any other Scopes, nor does it have any plans to in the future

This section will contain many redlinks for now, but will be filled out later. I promise.

Required Reading

Axocora covers the fundamentals of the Scope's cosmology and mechanics, as well as serving as a portal page to the catalogue of dimensions discovered.

Evervoid is the main dimensional setting and covers the day-to-day fundamental world the inhabitants live in.

Great Beast Archipelago is the actual setting of the vast majority of the content, and covers both the setting and history.

Toxelugh covers the inhabitants of this Scope, which is required to understand for the sake of making characters.

Nine Lights, for the basis of magic and the powers that the Toxelugh can acquire. Not necessarily needed to make a character and story but helps inform a lot of the setting.

The Stardawn is the other dimension once inhabited by a colony of Toxelugh from the Great Beast Archipelago.

The Voyager Project is the modern initiative to re-explore the Stardawn. The article covers key operators and forces behind this task.

The Pioneer Initiative is a secretive government initiative to explore new dimensions to find ones suitable for habitation.
