Overview
The Borealis Universe is a community Scope originally created on May 28th 2015, and was once a part of the "Space Engine Wiki." Revived by our community, the Borealis Universe is a strictly sci-fi universe primarily set within the Local Group, and several near-by galactic neighborhood, particularly within the galaxies of the Milky Way and Andromeda. The accumulative setting of this Scope is referred to colloquial as the "Borealis Cluster," hence the Scope's name.
This Scope is currently undergoing a large reboot of content in an attempt to make the setting more concise and comprehensible. As such, many of the articles a part of the Borealis Universe will be revised, consolidated, or completely rewritten to ensure consistency and clarity across the entire Scope. Largely, the content of the Borealis Universe acts as a "wild west" of sorts in sci-fi worldbuilding writing, with the majority of content comprising the Scope being of planets, species, and space-era nations. As of the writing of this article, there is currently no unified plotline for this Scope.
How to Collaborate
The Borealis Universe is completely OPEN for collaboration, and currently there are no set rules beyond avoidance of violating the settings size, and violating any pre-established lore. Currently, there is no lead of this Scope; however, the reboot for Borealis is currently being plotted out by User:LordSkorne7, with User:Polaris and User:The Minmus Derp planning on adding additional content. If you're wanting to contribute, feel more than free to do so!
Setting
As previously mentioned, the setting of the Borealis Universe centers primarily around the Local Group, with several outlying galactic groups forming the Borealis Universe. This means the Borealis Universe encompasses a wide variety of environments and celestial bodies, ranging from the familiar stars and planets of the Milky Way. to the uncharted and exotic systems of Andromeda and other nearby galaxies.
Other far-away galaxies do exist in this setting, but merely exist in a non-interactive narrative state, and if it written, are merely observed phenomena by the inhabitants of the Borealis Cluster. These distant galaxies serve as a backdrop for speculative theories, scientific curiosity, and occasional narrative flavor, but do not play an active role in the primary storyline or interactions within the setting.
Antecedent Legacy
The Borealis Universe is currently a part of the Bridged-Scope plotline known as "Antecedent Legacy," linking itself with the Scopes of Universe 6E and the Local Universe. This plot draws inspiration from the varying "eras" of the original Space Engine Wiki, with the Borealis Universe representing the era lasting from May 28th, 2015, to June 5th, 2019. The Antecedent Legacy unfolds across the Borealis Universe, Universe 6E, and the Local Universe, commencing in the year 100,000 CE: the final year of the Borealis Universe timeline.
The Antecedent Legacy plot provides the foundational context as to why the Scopes of the Borealis Universe, Universe 6E, and the Local Universe are established as distinct universes in their own right, each locked in a state of "perpetual present," looping eternally within their respective cycles, from the beginning of the universe to the Antecedent Legacy's climatic end.
