Forest of Viraketh

Seruska is a Void Island located within the Azura Dawn Null Zone. Located within the Prism Void Archipelago, Seruska was settled during the Void Age, and was part of the Greater Solar Union. It became one of thousands of 'Lost Worlds' following the Technopocalypse, and became an isolated island within the Voidsea. It is the home world of Vortex.

While on it's own, Seruska is not a particularly noteworthy world - It is a habitable terrestrial Void Island in a sea of hundreds of thousands of others - many of the circumstances surrounding it make it a unique world for observation.

In many ways, Seruska is a time capsule into the Void Age - And it was a world that became well known for it's educational facilities, and culture of academia. Many archaeological sites on the Void Island are of university complexes, research institutes, and libraries. Hundreds of data-packets have been found here, and much of the restored technology provides insight to the thought processes of those that lived during these times. Many of these things have impacted Seruskan culture, particularly in terms of their language and lexicons. Furthermore, some of the data recovered from Seruska has directly aided in rediscovering other 'Lost Worlds', such as Avariska, Nylar, and Lomai-Lorven. These achievements have only further increased interest in Seruska, and what other secrets it may be hiding.

Like all worlds located within Null Zones, Taekni is not present within Seruska, due to the Broadwave being unable to reach into it. However, much like worlds such as Failstate and Xeo-Quartz, Traits have evolved here, but they did not emerge for several generations. An oddity however, is the existence of the Viraketh Node - Without Taekni, a Node should not be present on Seruska. However, it exists, leading to a huge number of creatures from the Realmlands to roam Seruska. The Node's existence has only lead to further questions from Arcane Scholars.

As part of the Greater Solar Union, Seruska was settled by several different Kinde. In the ages that have followed, however, various political affairs, incidents, and conflicts have found Seruska divided into three primary nation states, split up mostly by the different Kinde - The Kin, the Kaen, and the Ouyxay.

History

Many Lost Worlds find themselves to be isolated, and often lose historical context for their circumstances over time. Seruska is an exception in this regard. Extensive records were kept in various formats, including paperback, chisel, and other methods used by various Kindes. This allowed Seruska to keep extensive records of the history that had lead them to this point.

Void Age

Originally, Seruska was little more than one world on a logistics route that was settled during a colonization wave, roughly 500 years before the Technopocalypse. As one of many, in a region full of worlds that lacked any major resources beyond their geographical convenience, efforts were made to encourage the worlds to develop infrastructure and institutions to appeal to potential colonists.

Seruska ended up specializing in education, research, and academia - It became a major hub of universities, specialized schools, and training centres. As the logistics route became more entrenched, this attracted many people to the world, and the neighbouring regions. According to their records, Seruska became an epicentre for civilization in the region.

Technopocalypse

Following the Technopocalypse, and the total breakdown of Voidsea communication, Seruska attempted to be a glue which held together various neighbouring worlds. For a while this worked - However, various attacks by monsters that had not been seen on the world before broke down the cohesive government, and thus many other worlds began to splinter off and crack, unable to provide aid, and having their own issues. Just thirty years after the Technopocalypse, the entire situation had completely deteriorated.

Notable Locations

Seruska is home to a number of locations that are of interest to many Arcane Scholars, historians, and the native population.

Forest of Viraketh

The Forest of Viraketh is a large forest located in the southern hemisphere - It was well known for being home to strange and esoteric creatures, and many anomalous incursions. What was unknown to the Seruskans for a long time was the fact that the forest was home to the Viraketh Node, which allowed many creatures from the Realmlands to enter Seruska without any issue or resistance.

Surnai Academy Ruins

Surnai Academy is the largest known Void Age educational institute found on Seruska.

Culture

Linguistics

A unique quality of Seruska is that due to it's isolated, and it's abundance of record reaching back into the Void Age, the majority of it's inhabitants did not develop their own terminology, nor adopt widely accepted astronomical phenomenon. To the Seruskans, Void Islands are still called planets, and Void Coves are still known as moons.
