Summery:
The Siel’el are a sentient slime mold species from the southern side of the M81 galaxy, instead of using conventional science they use a form of magic-based pseudo-technology. They see other species as threats and seek to control them due to their past oppression at the hands of the Myra and the siel’el have since made a feudalistic society where they are at the top and all other species are beneath over the last 10,000 years they have become one of the dominant species of the galactic south.
Origin:
The Seil’el originated on the Planet Seel in the Galactic south, it once resembled a world straight out of medieval fantasy but as magic became more sophisticated the Seil’el managed to become the dominant race on the planet and they were able to use their magic to reach the stars and beyond.
The Seil’el evolved from a small mobile slime species that the previous dominant species the elf like Myra hunted for sport, eventually due to some magical event that is not well understood the slime creatures (who were a species of advanced slime mold) gained intelligence on par with the Myra and used their shapeshifting powers to infiltrate the Myra Society.
The Myra civilization fell apart because they couldn't trust each other because everyone was a potential imposter. And the Seil’el gained full power over the society and pushed the magical knowledge they got from the Myra to its limits, eventually making it off the Planet Seel and going on to colonize more planets.
They set themselves up as the leaders of these planets they conquered and suppressed all scientific and magical knowledge from the native inhabitants of these planets turning them into serfs, they even used magic spells to stop mechanical technologies from working.
Biology:
The Seil’el can change their shape and mimic almost anything, they can take on the likeness of other species and their disguise is often extremely convincing, during war they often take on the appearance of the enemy to infiltrate the enemy society.
But when not disguised they take on slime form that is visibly slime but takes on whatever the Seil’el’s desired shape is, or they may also just flow around like a kind of liquid.
In addition to disguising as almost any living thing with equal mass to them the Seil’el can also infect living things and take control of their minds and motor functions and form a parasitic relationship with a host, they can also use this to probe the minds of their victims for information, they will also often use someone's ears, nostrils or eye sockets as a way of accessing their brain to probe their mind for information or put their victim inside of a virtual world of the Seil'els choosing.
The Seil’el can also exchange memories and information with each other by exchanging parts of their bodies for example if a Seil’el gives another Seil’el a small part of their mass the 2nd Seil’el will gain some of the 1st Seil’el’s memories and knowledge
Weaknesses:
If you attempt to remove a small sample of a Seil’el that small sample will not be intelligent enough to keep a disguise so if you extract blood or tissue from a disguised Seil’el the sample will lose its disguise and look like slime mold. The reason for this is due to how the Seil’el intelligence works they do not have a brain or organs they are made of trillions of tiny single celled organisms that all work together, and the collective processing power of all of those cells creates the intelligence of the Seil’el, so the bigger a Seil’el is the more intelligent
Like slime molds on earth they are susceptible to fungicides such as baking soda, they are also vulnerable to thermal and electrical attacks
Society:
Seil’el society is a feudalistic society where the Seil’el are the privileged upper class that rule over an ignorant serf population composed of the other intelligent species.
The Seil’el enforce their rule by having a monopoly of magical knowledge and keeping all other species in the dark about it, they force the lower species to work and farm while the Seil’el have a lavish lifestyle in castles floating in the sky.
Their is 1 Seil’el king/queen in the galaxy and each occupied planet has a feudal ruler with his/her own floating golden castle and serf population
Seil’el Technology
The Seil’el do not use mechanical or even biological technology such as other species do instead their technology is a direct continuation of the Kind of Magic people did before the scientific age, their technology is essentially very specialized staffs and wands designed to channel the magic they already have inside of them, these can take the form of large spaceships and gliders to fly around and smaller instruments to channel particular spells on the ground
