The Solomon Island Giants, are a Species of giant marsupial found on the island of Guadalcanal in the Solomon islands.
They have been known by the Native Islanders for over 30k years, and where first properly written about by Japanese soldiers in WW2 who where engaged in Guerrilla Warfare with the US Military, and where being eaten by the Giants at Night.
Biology
Despite looking somewhat like Hominids, the Solomon Island Giants are actually marsupials closely related to the Cuscus, These Beasts walk upright and can use basic tools such as Clubs.
Description
Standing on average at about 15 feet tall and weighing 450-550lbs the Giants stand at almost the same height as the trees, surprisingly they are able to be quite even for their large size, due to their specialized feet. They are covered in shaggy black fur and have a very beast like face, Somewhat like the Chewbacca from Star Wars. Their arms and legs are longer then the average hominid as well.
Ecology
They Serve as the True apex predators of the Island and while being Omnivorous they prefer Carnivory at any Chance. They are only active at Night and spend their Days in Caves, however they stick to the Forests and avoid The Coasts and other parts, this is Why most Settlements on the island are Coastal, to avoid conflicts.
Trivia
The Young ones are known as "Kokamora" and stand at 4 feet tall
